Damn...that's a good price!

What was the guy's reason for selling them? You could sell them, think of the profit you'd make, you could then sink that money straight back into the car. Of course you could just keep them and use them on your car.

You'd be able to sell them to some nuff nuff running around in a VL turbo for a fortune. But then again, plates like those don't come around too often, and for that price. I reckon you'd be mad to sell them. That's just me though.

BTW: Seven pages and still going. So far off topic it's not funny, but the thread still has lots of good info in it. BOOYAH!

That was a long way before...might as well repost them...I can't be stuffed going back through the pages...too lazy.

Just as a bit of an aside...the VN is still the fastest V6 to 100kph. Well...it beats the VE that's for sure! Stock form VN V6 manual and a VE Omega lined up next to each other, lights onto the freeway go green. VE was in my mirrors. They move...don't get me wrong on that...but the VN still got there first.

mate, at least for the first 30m a VN will take just about anything ( I took a wrx at the lights but unfortunately the bugger ended up catching me) I love the look of panic on their face when they have to shift and floor it in their 50 thousand dollar ricer just to fly past me as I reach the speed limit....the beauty of a VN

Bit of a laugh isn't it? They spend a fortune developing a new engine for a new car and it still gets out done (to street legal speeds) by some busted arse 17 year old V6 Buick motor. Sure the new motor might be a tad more refined, but said and done, fuel consumption is about the same (from everything I've read). And as with all new cars there's a lot of electronics to help it get that. There isn't that much in the way of electronics in the VN, not compared to the cars of today...I know which one I'd rather have to work on on the weekends.

As for the first 30m...? Well...redline in first is about 60kph...if I was willing to do that to my car (and I'm not), I'm betting that there's not a lot that could keep up to the end of first gear. After that is when they start to catch up.

i've yet to be beaten to the limit by any one of my mates rex's vl's vx's eunos'etc. the only time they get a chance is when its wet cos my car hasn't moved off the line until 3rd gear. even still the other day i caught a bloke at the lights in a rex he decided to give it a few revs and a couple of roll backs, once he stoped playin' i gave my Vn a few revs, n' with my new exhaust it sounds mean as fu*ck. then as the lights went green he took off and i had a bit of fun smoked em in first then second and by the time it bogged down and grabbed traction he was about 2 car lenghe in fromt of me then i caught him just after i got into third, now thats not bad.

another my dads work car is a brand new VZ s Ute manual of course and we set em out to c which one would go quicker, and suprise suprise the snotty old VN was a car lenght infront in no time.
Cheers to the VN..

Hell, I dont even bother in the wet... I just plod along with the traffic cos anything more than a grandma's foot on the accelerator will amount to trying to take off in neutral...whole lotta noise...no actual forward movement

Hell...you guys need to try my tyres...195 tyres...was cruising along at 80kph in fourth the other day and got to a 100 zone. Eased onto the throttle a bit more and both wheels broke loose (in an open diff?).

Hopefully the new rims/tyres/suspension will take care of that though:)

My God dont even talk about steelies with those tyres, might as well be 3 inch space savers.... interceptors will and new suspension will take care of that but be prepared to still lose traction in the wet...hell a you would probably get wheelspin in the wet with a minitubbed VN running 10" rears lol

Okay...so now you know why my car in the wet takes a really light touch and a quick hand to keep in a straight line. Thankfully when I was on my L's I did quite a bit of driving up in the alps, so I got a fair bit of practice driving on snow/ice...gave me the skills I need to keep a VN on the road!

not good, lost my liecience today, ****it, got stung doing 130 in a 110 zone, so much for getting home from work early. it's amazing how much smoke can pour off a set of 17X8's when you know that you can only drive your car for 1 more month.

OUCH...that sucks...how long you off the road for? It's like a month isn't it? How you going to be getting around now? Pushbike?

Still (and I do have to add this bit, sorry), you did break the law, so you do sort of have to expect **** to happen.

That said, I have a few issues with the concepts behind the speed infringment penalties...I think you got stiffed. With all the money you could potentially save on fuel in that month (or however long it is), you got any 'upgrades' planned?

Been wondering where you've been at. I guess having no phone or internet would kinda suck.

Now...I'm going to bite: What the hell is the reference to the dancing cat?

Also, what interior are you going to get, fairly plain or fairly off the wall?

Five grand just on the interior? You're going to want to end up with a 24ct gold gear knob as part of that! HOLY CRAP!!! The car isn't worth $5000. What are you aiming to do with it, full leather?

Either way, it should look damn good when it's done. Post some pics once it's finished?

Mate Id spend five grand on the engine if i were you.... but then again thats my opinion....also figured youd want to know what gauges etc were required for a worked engine, and then spend that kinda money on having a dash etc moulded to fit them wherever you want and give it a smooth look.... gauges can look quite dodgy when theyre just bolted on all over the place

Yeah, thats what i dont like about the guages, unless their mounted smooth their everywhere, it looks like an aircraft cockpit. Ive got 13,000 in the bank to spend on my engine (im waiting untill im off my P's, that way its legal :P)
And im going full leather, with custom built patterns on it. Im having my bands logo stitched into the seats. And all the dash and stuff are being replaced

$13,000 for the engine hey? You going to stay with the buick or do you think you'd swap motors? There's a VN with the 2JZ supra engine in it, and even in stock form that thing flies, put a few grand into that engine, and you'd have a hard time keeping it on the ground :)

13,000 buckafukaroonies Holy Cow, I wish I had a chunk like that just for the engine....Im doin the buick twin turbo....poverty style....so when they write articles about my car, they will not only be amazed by the stupidly insane power output and the attention given to the subtle body modifications but also to the relatively pitiful amount of money with which this was achieved....BOOYAHH go the poverty pack 8 second missile...The General's FINEST....(followed by dramatic music)

Again...I'm going to ask the question, what the hell is the 'Pirate Monkey'? The Machine-of-Doom I'm guessing would be a commodore of some sort, but seriously...'Pirate Monkey'...what the?

Should put the two cars next to each other on a 1/4 mile when they are finished, will be interesting to see which one takes the flag. There's nothing wrong with a poverty pack setup (hell...even in stock form the poverty pack VN is nothing to be sneezed at), that said, there's something to be said for going all out and producing a car that can line up at autosalon and race as hard as it looks.

Should have a thread dedicated to each of the cars, with pictures and stuff...sounds like it's going to be mad as while you guys build them up.

Mate I've been wanting to get fotos up but havent gotten around to it... n just for the record, mine is gonna take a tad longer to build considering the dismal plight of my finances...im not really going for the showcar thing...might get racing 17"s so I can fit larger brakes for circuit racing....so yeah due to cost, i'm going for the "that does WHAT down the 1/4 mile" look or plainly speaking, what I call the "WHAT THE FUK" look lol

Sort of what the guys at st commodores did with V6Vengance? Though when they started chopping into the bonnet it lost the sleeper look, but it was still a nuts car.
