Oooooh...I can see that having a car back over your foot would kinda fu&k it up.
Sounds like a nasty effort getting toes pinned. I think that if a doc tried that on me, I'd grab the air gun off him and give him a steel rod enema! I'd at least want a local anasthetic. Not fussed if it's a general or not, but at least a local.
Worst thing I've ever seen was a guy who was doing the pads on the front end of a car and the jack collapsed (dick didn't have any chasis stands under there), well...the disc went straight through the top of his boot, and out the bottom. Bye Bye TOES! So I guess in the grand scheme of things you were lucky, but it still sucks.
BTW: Congrats on 100 posts. |

lol I saw a girl commit suicide at flinders st station late 2004 she layed with her neck on one of the tracks and I saw it as the train pulled out... and all of a sudden this headless body was twitching and her head was about 1m away, gruesome... also happens she was a friend of a guy at school too... I was explaining the details in class and this guy jst fainted... later i found out he knew her...ooops I was a bit disturbed until I spoke to my uncle (director of Emergency dpt. at Shepparton)and he told me all the sh1t hed seen... 4 of his students were in a crash with a B double and he was on duty at the hospital....you know the rest... After all the doom and gloom a bit of happiness... My cousin overseas survived a head on with a VW touareg (4x4) doin about 180kph they left him in the wreck until someone had the decency to check his pulse.
Also I'm hopefully goin to the shop on the weekend... so I dont have a name adress etc yet... but I will so relax |

Ah yes...trains...possibly the bluntest surgical tool you can use. I know a guy who used one to cut off one of his legs (really bad arthritis in the ankle), so yeah...I know what it looks like. Sights like that tend not to leave you do they?
I've got a sister who is training to become a Nurse, and she did one of her clinical placements at the TAC Acquired Brain Injury ward. There were some stories out of there that certainly made me change my driving habits.
Also...Just as a side note...I have real issues with one of the TAC's latest 'slogans'. The one "Slowing Down Won't Kill You"...Well, I'm sorry guys, but the slowing down is exactly what kills people. People don't die from doing 110kph in a 100kph zone...they die from doing 100kph and stopping in a tree! It's the rapid decelleration that does the damage. So technically they screwed it up. I fall back onto an old chestnut from my year 12 physics teacher: "It's not the speed that kills you, it's the sudden stop". |

| My uncle (the one in shepp) was interviewed by the media and TAC, n he told em they wouldnt like what he had to say... anyway they went ahead with it, and the heavily edited version came out something like this...."5 or 10kph over the limit wont kill you, not even 20 will, Excessive speed ie: 60,70kph over will, so the killers are excessive speed, fatigue, drugs and alcohol, either combined or on their own" that was after they tried to shut down the easternats or whatever they have up in Shepparton |

Just as an interesting note, it's usually cheaper (financially) to kill someone on the road than if you just really badly cripple them. Actually, the TAC do all their costing on that fact.
I quite like how your uncle thinks (at least based on what I've just read). It would be nice to think that politicians could think logically, instead of panic about 4kph over the limit. |

Leaking, over heating and water in the oil...head gasket or cracked heads. Take your pick. Either way it's a huge headache to fix, or a huge amount of money. That sucks.
Gotta ask though, why do you need a new t/b and memcal? Started the mod work already?
As for the gauges, the L1 and L2 clusters are completely interchangable, you can grab any L1 or L2 cluster from a VN or VP and drop it in, and it will be fine (so long as it was working when it came out). You can throw a level 3 cluster (the one with the LCD readouts along the bottom), but you need to get the control switches and wire a few extra things in.
Most of the time, the needles start to stick when the solder connections on the back of the cluster start to dry and crack a bit. Yank the cluster out and check out the condition of all the solder joints you can see. Redo any that look a little dry/cracked. |

I didnt know u could stick a manual cluster into an auto car, are you sure it would work? |

There's no difference between them.
Anyway, there's no such thing as a manual or an auto cluster in the VN. There is L1 (fuel, speed and temp) L2 (fuel, speed, temp, tach) L3 (fuel, speed, temp, tach, 3 LCD panels).
Simple as that. It's not like the more modern ones where the gear selection shows up on the cluster (not in any of the VN's I've ever been in anyway), everything else is the same, it's not an electronic transmission, so there's no difference to the ECU. The only 'extra' about the auto setup to the manual is the kickdown cable (oh...and the 'safety' switch for P and N). Nothing to worry the cluster about there. |

Wow...$1500! Thats gotta suck so badly. Still could have been worse, your mech could have ripped you off as well. My car is crying for you ;) But still, which would you prefer? Cracked head and a turbo, or a non cracked head and a dream driving car?
Id like a badger to be honest

Oh...ouch, that's a big hit. $1500, that hurts badly. Time for a V8 t/b maybe? Just a thought. :) I always look at a 'breakage' as an excuse to upgrade.
I'm not sure about the VS SS injectors fitting, but I'm pretty sure that the VS V6 injectors fit without any problems. You might as well try the ones from the VS SS, see if they fit, if not, you haven't lost anything for trying. Just don't force anything and you shouldn't have any problems.
Tapping the dash to make the gauges work is a sign of affection for a VN. So long as you're not bashing crap out of it, a light tap is just like patting a dog, it knows that it's appreciated.
Just two questions for you lolo, how come the memcal isn't resetting properly? Where is the crack in the t/b? |

Fuel gauge? They don't normally die like that do they? I thought the tacho or the speedo went first. Have you checked the sender in the tank?
Might just be easier to fix the solder joints on the rear. Cheaper too. What cluster you got in there at the moment? L2 or L3? |

"Hitler of VN's".... hehe I like that
My baby now turns the tyres way too easily...the benefits of running on 6 cylinders, and yes I also treat breakdowns as an excuse to upgrade. The crack is near the IAC on the passenger side...no need to worry as it is going to be replaced by a polished 71mm Yella Terra Item wooohooo... cluster is getting replaced by an L2, fuel pump is being replaced with a Walboro flowing 330lph and numberplates are going to be HRT-PSI...If I win the bid BOOYAHH |
