I have a 89 vn wagon and all it does is turn over but not fire, i have changed the fuel pump. there is no spark and every time i start it i blow the engine ignition fuse what could it be.... i am stumped
Sounds like your coil pack has stopped working. And yes normally a car will start on four cyclinder but in the series 1 which your car is all the coil are joined together so when one goes they all go. just ring up your local wreckers and get a new ignition modular they cost bout $100 just ring around. at one place i rang up it was $150 and at another it was $88 bit of a difference. It's simple job you can do it yourself just need a few spanners and about thrity minutes, remember to disconect the battery other wise it will be bye bye. Try that first then get back to us.
If it does start then remember to reset your ecu disconnect your battery wait about 30 seconds thjen reconnect it start the car and rev it at 3000 rpm for 10 seconds and your done. Also before you reset it close your bonnet otherwise it will be set wrong and have bad fuel consumption
hi guys it happened again i really dont no what it could be. i changed the tacho cluster and then 3 days later the car played up which was the first time and i replaced the whole coil pack including the plate it ran for just over a day. could it be something to do with the taco cluster??? i am getting a new on tomorrow. can you guys please help me...
What do you mean by new one? Ok if it's the coil pack have you tested it? What u need is two small clamps connected by wire. Think minuture jumper leads. ok remove one of the leads from the coil pack and connect one of the clamps to it. and the other end to an old spark plug. then turn the key. You will need a mate to check if there is spark coming through.
Just a small thought though... have you checked that you have put it back together properbly check the grounding thats the whitish wire with a loop on the end that goes under one of the nuts you may just need to give it a bit of a sand make sure its clean. Secondally the panal on the side is back on the right way,. make sure that screw it tight. And the most obvious it that all the leads are on right and check the battery give it a bit of a charge it may have gone flat or not getting a strong enough connection. Try that and get back to us. There is other things which it could be but lets just hope it's not.....
i have to check the wire that comes from the injection fuse to all the injectors there could be a short along there some where that is what a elecy told me it is very expensive to fix if it is
