Being able to use fibreglass properly is something that I've always wanted to learn, I guess I should ask my mum to teach me (she used to surf a lot and had to repair her board a bit). It's just somethig that I've thought might be handy.
I'm not a huge fan of rear wings on VNs, there is only one that I like, and I think it's off a VP. If I can find a picture I'll post a link. But after the beer that I've had tonight, I can't be stuffed hitting google for it :)
The wing from a VY on a VN though, you gotta post pics of that when it's done, should look rather unique.
BTW: 5 pages. WAY off topic, but it's still a semi-serious discussion, so it's all good. |

The VY spoiler looks awsome on the back of my VN...i had it temp mounted before i bought it so i could see what it looks like. were also gonna raise the feet 5cm so it sits high...Ill post a pic when its on...cause it looks wicked... Ill google the VP wing and see what its like...oh yeah...awsome 5 pages, it might be WAY off topic, gone from mechanics to visual, but as long as its a serious discussion then its all good, this way ppl who come on can learn something else as well.

| Hell only wing I think looks half decent is that thing they call a wing on the back of the VN SS, pretty small eh but yeah my car aint gonna have no wing I think they look pretty crummy on VNs and VLs and bout the intercooler, I figured maybe someone might be able to plumb into the the cooling system, or maybe an easier idea would be to get one of those PWR race coolers for $800 meh its 1am and Im on the forum.... most people would say I'm sad, I say Im Passionate |

You can sort of see what it's like in that one, I'm pretty sure it's off the VP, though I have a hunch that I'm wrong about that. Either way, a little low one like that...if I was to get one, that's what I'd end up with. But at the moment the car is just a stock standard execudore, so there's no point. Got other stuff to do first (tyres, rims, suspension, sound system, bigger fuel tank...)
What's wrong with being on the forum at 1AM? I see no problem with that. :) |

hell no, nothing wrong with a 1am forum checkup...hell i was on here at like 3am at one point :p but i think that might be pushing it :P Ive got an 80L fuel tank in my VN so thats all good...but im lookin for new rims, tyres and suspension, thats about it. But this wing was only $50 cause i bought it off a m8 of mine who was just gonna put it in his roof and leave it there to fall into the undesirable darkness...and it looked cool so i bought it...plus ill get some fibre glass experience |

Hopefully my rims/rubber will either be this week or next (at the latest). Hopefully 'The Tyre Factory' can fix me up with what I want, I've heard good things about them. I'm going to just get them to fit the rubber to the rims and balance it, I'll chuck the wheels in the boot and fit them to the car myself because there's a few other things I want to check out while the wheels are off.
And if I got them to do it I probably wouldn't get around to looking at how fuc&ed my suspension rubbers are. How big should the cracks be in the tower bearing plate? LOL. |

100ltr tank for the VN? Didn't even know that it existed. Sounds like a mad tank to get, I'd love one. 100km @ 7L/100km (open road) and that works out to be about 1400km range from a single tank. The only problem is that the extra weight from the fuel would start to impact on the fuel usage, but it would still give well more than 1000km on a single tank. Should be about 900km around town if you can drive it 'nicely'.
Was it a custom made one off item, or is there a company which made/makes them? Sit down a fair way though wouldn't it? |

ALSO have any of you guys tried the new Vortex Premium 98 or whatever its called??? My car is running so smooth and strong with it (got a full tank of it) with the tyres on 40psi, today my VN really behaved lol I think its the most Ive ever enjoyed drivin the bugger |

I hope you got the tank straps for it, otherwise fitting it is going to be a whore of a job.
Vortex 98 (according to the latest press release from Caltex) is available across NSW and the ACT, with Victorian servos only just starting to stock it.
The only difference between that and the normal Vortex (there are two different Vortex fuels), that I can see from the info on the website is that the Vortex 98 is a 98RON fuel, where as the normal Vortex has a minimum of 95RON (it can be higher of course). Most importantly it's an E0 fuel, so looks like I'll have to test this fuel out now.
I've just finished testing the new 'ecconomy' range (ULP and U95) of unleaded fuels for Shell. That's right FOR Shell...it had been noted that I have my book with me, and I got chatting with someone and she asked me to let her know how the fuels went in my car. Well...and I hope someone from Shell reads this...THEY WERE SH1T! The ULP gave me the worst results I've ever had (and that includes the batch of E5 fuel I tried foolishly once), the U95 was about the same as the old ULP, it's just more expensive. Thankfully Shell PULP (Optimax) still seems to be okay, doesn't look like they have touched that one. If they apply the same 'formula' to the Optimax 98 fuel I will have to find another brand of fuel to use.
I will freely admit that I prefer to use Shell Optimax 98 where I can, but failing that Caltex Vortex is my second fuel of choice. Gotta test out this Vortex 98 fuel when I can find it. Once I've got some figures on it, I'll post up (might start a new thread for that). |

There's actually two types of 'officer' when it comes to driving the cop cars: The ones who pound **** out of their cars because they know that they will get another one eventually, and then there are the ones who look after the cars because they know that without them they would be stuck behind a ****ty desk all day. So it depends on what type of police officer you had driving your one.

It would have seen a lot of distance (I'm guessing) but more importantly it would have seen a lot of hours. Actually, being a VN interceptor, I guess you've got the cop instrument cluster? Doesn't that have 2kph increments on the speedo? That would just piss me off, it would look way too cramped for my liking.
Either way, it sounds like you got a good one.
Also...for anyone who is interested in a bunch of guys just hanging around and just doing random **** and filming it when they get bored. Check out this bunch, some are funny, some are sick...but I manage to laugh at most of them. http://boredom-induced.com/integration/index.php?id=24 Just a bunch of guys who hang around and do some really crazy (fun) stuff with cars and other random objects. Hope you've got broadband...there's quite a few vids to download. |

Just think about all the money you're going to save on fuel!!!
Seriously, that sucks big time. How are you going to be getting around? Because it's not like you're going to be able to walk either.
I AM going to ask the obvious question though: How the hell did you manage to do it?
The money you save will be quite a bit though, let's say that it's about $50 a week, over (about) 6 weeks you're looking at somewhere around $300, there's a couple of subs in that. Under car LED's, or neons if you want...how much for a window tint?
This could also be a good excuse to spend a fair bit of time working on the car (if you can). |

That sounds like an awesome store...feel like naming it? Where abouts are they? Do they have a website? Sounds like they could be a really good store to get behind. Should talk to David (on here) and see if they can advertise on here.
I do remember hearing about the Monaro cup, but don't remember if it ever happened or not. Would have been good. Just think about all the stuff they could do for a VN...
