I finally replaced that power stearing pump, i could have killed someone. The guy that i bought it off had torn ALL the external thread off the high pressure fluid line that runs into the back of the pump, so i couldnt get it off, so instead i had to take the WHOLE high pressure line out and replace it, took me 3 days...got some pics if u guys are interested. @trizo, yeah im still on MSN, just not as much, but ill be on there occasionally

Well guys, I'm back. Still no internet access at the g/f's place.

Looks like the forum has been nice and busy while I've been gone. That's not a bad thing. Seems like this thread has kept going, and sorry guys, but it's not going to become 'sticky'. We know that it's here, and that's enough. No point having it jammed up the top of the forum forever.

Sounds like you guys have been busy with your cars. I notice that there's no sign of LOLO either...

As for the pics of the det sensor, e-mail them to me. Use the little e-mail link just up above this post. Email it to me, and I'll see if I can add it to the list. Anyone had a look at the error code how-to yet? I'd love to know what those other 'unknown' codes are.

As for the power-steering nightmare, yeah, I'd love to see some pics, since I'm going to be attacking that part of my car soon myself ;)

Johnny, I just saw in another post that you got stung more than a grand. What the hell did you get booked for? $1000 in fines is massive...you must have seriously pissed someone off.

i got booked for not having my licence on me ($200 for not carrying my licence) i got another one for insulting a police officer ($500 i told him he was the fattest cop id seen since id been to america) i got another one for resisting arrest ($300) i told him that if he tried to cuff me i would take his night stick and make his walking very uncomfortable :P
all i wanted to do was go fishing, and they had to get narky with me, i was polite till he called me a liar :P (the last person to call me a liar was my commanding officer at cadets, and i threw a paper weight at his head) i dont like being told im lieing

Sounds like you were just having a bad day all around. Must admit though, getting stung $500 for calling a cop 'fat' sucks.

As for the $300 for resisting arrest, that just sucks. What did they want to cuff you for? Not having a licence with you? That's crap!

I don't blame you for not liking to be called a liar, I know that I don't take too kindly to it myself.

Yeah, it's because it's such a long wheelbase, the VN really doesn't like anything more 'agressive' than a flat gravel road. I actually gave the bottom of my gearbox something to think about on a GUTTER one time, needless to say, as soon as I could I pulled over and appologised to my car.

lol, by "doesnt handle well" it was code for, im not so good with the spying the huge rocks in the way :P

she didnt handle to badly for a VN, but with the rear wheel traction loss and the tail slides it was a bit hard to get above 30kmph

Actually as long as you can be smooth on the steering and the throttle, the sliding can be a bit of an advantage. There's a nice long gravel road (with a few nice corners in it) that leads to one of the Melbourne Water catchment areas where I've been doing a bit of work for the last two years, and I regularly get my VN up to about 100kph on the way in, most corners are about 70kph though.

I've found it really reduces the number of stone chips you get, because if you're going sideways, the stones are either getting thrown into the lining of the wheel arch or away from the car completely. Something to play with ;)

BTW: I got pulled over yesterday only about 2km from my house and given a bit of an unofficial warning for 'accelerating too quickly'. The Lights went green so I took-off. Because I got to the speed limit quicker than the bus next to me they pulled me over! They did a full roady on the side of the road (and found nothing), did a full licence and rego check, but at no stage did they test my BAC. Strange.

yeah, about that, this place was like rocks the size of kittens. there was no gravel, not as such, the smallest rock would kill ur window...

Acctually, the window was chipped comming OUT of the damn town, we were all ahead and clear and some dumb ass gravel truck didnt cover his load and i got 2 rocks into my window at 110kmph...needless to say the next time he stopped for a rest i was there to greet him.

@mouce against a bus? thats not a very good measurment scheme...oh, that guy is faster then that HUGE moving house... i think ur cops as as stupid as mine :S

There's good cops and bad cops, I got one who was professional with what he was doing, he wasn't a prick or anything, he was just having a bit of a slow day and wanted to just make sure I wasn't racing or anything like that.

But yeah, a commodore compared to a bus...I wonder who is going to get away quicker.

Just lucky he didn't compare me to the push-bike further down the road otherwise I could have lost my licence. LOL!

Okay, I know you can get done for speeding on a push bike, but getting done for not having a speedo? If that were a requirement for pushies to use the road then why isn't it covered in an ADR for pushbikes? I'm with you on that one...wankers.

There are roadworthy standards for push-bikes, and DUI is an old one on push-bikes...basically if it moves you can be done DUI (car, push-bike, ride-on-mower, horse...).

For the most part I try not to slag off on the cops, after all they are just out there doing a job. It's the ones who have a real chip on their shoulder and think that they can abuse their power (and NO, it's not all of them that are like that), they are the ones I have an issue with. I know quite a few cops, both locally and from my travels, and by and large they are good people.

i got nothing against the good ones, my uncle is a cop and some of his mates (SOME) are pretty good, its the ones with the "god complex" as he describes it, they think they can do whatever they want because there is but no one to stop them...they can kiss my fat under paid ass

I've had close encounters with members of the police forces from Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Northern Territory and Queensland (sorry trizo, WA is the one state I haven't made it to yet), and only ever come across a handful who have the 'god complex' (which does sum it up nicely). I don't know what they put in the water in WA, but the ones from the other states seem okay for the most part.

You might have just been unlucky with the ones you have met.

WELL WELL WELL, I'm back... for now at least... had a runn in with the cops on the west side of town which ended up quite nicely.... got pulled over for beating a skyline to the 80kph limit and was told to pop the hood. I told him I couldnt (hood wont open lol)he thought I was being a smartass, we got into an arguement and he called back up. The next patrol rocked up and to my delight it was my gf's uncle. The first cop told him he was sure i had an ilegally modified car and that I was refusing to cooperate and then proceeded to threaten me with physical harm lol. My gf's uncle (head of western metropolitan traffic) pretended not to know me and after pointing out that if my car was so highly modified, I would not have a ****ty little stock exhaust. Best of all he issued the cop with a on the spot written warning for harrasing and verbally assaulting a motorist after which he winked at me and drove off.... DAMN that was ****ing good... I then proceeded to pull away, once again gunning it to 80kph... lol life can be so good... hehehe

Also you guys know that my plans for the VN were shot to pieces a while ago and I can no longer afford the modifications I had in mind... so being the nut I am and not being able to stand driving an unmodified car, I dreamt up another plan. I'm gonna go street machining. This means only spending $20,000. How does a VN with a Gen3 LS1 conversion sound??? I seriously need more power and I figured an LS1 would make a light execudore fly, also this way, when I get sick of the 250kw, I can spend another $8,000 and get the APS LS1 twin turbo kit and play with 440KW... eh hows that for smart thinking???
