It's possible to buy/build an ALDL cable which allows you to link straight from the ALDL connector to a computer, which would then allow you to monitor, in real time, all the variables in your car. So yes, it's possible, and something that I'll cover in a how-to.
And with the VR computer (which can be used in the VN) it's possible to use a slightly different cable to actually re-tune your car ON-THE-FLY!!! So while you're driving, you can up the fuel mixture, or advance the spark a bit, or remove the speed limiter, or the rev limiter...
I take it you've been thinking about all that can be done with the memcals? I know I have...the 'factory' shift light is causing me a few headaches at the moment, but I'll get there with it.
Also...just as something to think about...there's a HUGE number of error codes that can be displayed that none of the manuals cover, so I'll be doing a monster how-to for diagnosis of the error codes and just what each one means as well as a few of the most likely ways to fix it. ;)
There's a lot of stuff in these memcals...way more than I expected.

| I took it to a mechanic...he said the pump is shot to peices. But wait theres more. Then the mechanic decided to look at the fluid line, and snapped the connector off the resivour...so now i need a new one of them as well. Plus the project is in the shop having those scratches fixed...so now im without a car for a few weeks :@ THERE IS NO GOD! and if there is, HE HATES ME! |

You're not without a car, you're just without a car with p/s for a few weeks. I know, it sucks, and I know you shouldn't run around with a stuffed p/s pump...but all said and done, you can still drive it. Just don't go around any corners slowly, the slower you go the harder it will be.
Since the pump is gone, I'd suggest the rack isn't far behind it. Really just a whole lotta bad news isn't it? Sorry to hear it. |

If you feel like saving money on going to a gym, would you believe that manual steering was actually available from the factory for the VN and VG commodores? Might be worth tracking down one of those racks, since this isn't the project car all you need it for is skidding around in when the project is off the road.
Hell of a lot less screwing around than trying to get the p/s up and running. |

| No can do, my M8 is gonna buy the run around off me, so it needs to be as good as it was when i left it. I found a pump for $90 with resovour...so thats not to bad...ill install that. how much does the stearing rack cost around abouts that is? |

Hey, if the rack isn't leaking or dead then leave it as it is, especially if you're going to be selling it. For a reco one you're looking at a couple of hundred bucks. I got mine done a couple of years back and it set me back about $600 (incl labour @ mate's rates).
Replace the pump and bleed the system properly, if that's all that it needs, be happy. ;)
Otherwise, get down to a wreckers and see if you can get one that looks okay. |

lmao...And i just found out today that my best m8s dad works at a steal construction yard, and hes best m8s with body detailers, body kit suppiers, fibre glass manufactuors and fibreglass body kit makers :P plus wreckers and spare parts stores.

Sounds like there isn't much stuff that we can't get done around this place. I've got contacts at a Carbon-Fibre moulding factory to add to the list. Not to mention (indirectly) almost the entire automotive industry in Echuca.
And a few other 'interesting' contacts around the place ;)
