Didn't even bother watching the life-guard one, because I knew it'd just piss me off. One that I did find kinda alright was the potato gun one...after all...who hasn't mucked around with a spud gun? Never did it with light-tubes though.
And yeah...trizo you're right, we are a bit of a strange bunch. But let's face it, between us, there isn't much that can't be fixed (or at least attempted) with a VN.

I thought about splitting the thread at the end of the first page, I thought about renaming it...but I don't think I'm gunna. Can't see any point to it, we all know what there is in it, and I know that there have been a few people who have read all 14 pages (poor souls). It's a bit of a classic, no point screwing around with it. And ultimately we have discussed power steering systems, and leaks quite a few times in the last 14 pages.
And as I've said before, I'm quite happy to let this thread go on and on, so long as a) the rest of the forum stays more or less ON topic, and b) there's no blatant post-whoring going on. So long as those two conditions are met, the thread can just keep running. |

Do the roof lining yourself, it's a piece of cake, it's about a 3/10 in a sedan and a 2.5/10 in a wagon. Should be able to do it for less than $100, and you can pick the exact material that you want.
Bugger getting someone else to do it. So long as you know how to use a screwdriver, a wire brush, glue and material you're set.
Glad to hear that you're still alive out there LOLO, however it does sound like you've just had the fortnight from hell...hope things start to turn around. Kinda blows about...well...everything.

yeah? i wanna know how to be a modorator? Anywho, some dumb sh*t tried to do it himself and screwed it up so badly. He has busted the entire roof lining, for the $250 their replacing the hard thing that the fabric sticks to, and the rear window lining holding plastic bar thingy that you cant buy anymore...so thats a bonus...

To become a mod you need to be asked, simple as that. It's not up to me, for all that I may be a mod, I don't own or run this forum.
There's not much point asking either, there's a few mods already. Anyway...what's the big deal with it?
And Johnny, how did the guy bust his roof lining? Must have stood on it or something. I can put together a how-to if you want. |

I know this is going to sound shocking (but please at least read my reasoning), but I don't feel sorry for him, he was a very lucky man: he died doing something he loved. I really envy him that, and I hope that I can be lucky enough to go out doing something I enjoy as much as he enjoyed playing with and looking after animals.
I feel sorry for his wife and two children though, especially the eldest child, Bindi. The reason that he was in the water at that time was because he was shooting a couple of segments for her show. She asked him to do a segment on Sting-rays, he had a bit of 'down time' between shoots for his own show so he popped out to shoot for his daughter. That knowledge is going to haunt her for the rest of her life.
It was a shocking accident, and it's a tragedy that it happend, but he died doing something he loved for someone he loved, people shouldn't lose sight of that.
@trizo, there is a bit of extra work involved, so yeah...you're not missing out on much. |

| Fair enough then. The guy bent the hard roof thingy, so its all busted up and manky...plus he snapped all the clips on the rear roof lining holder, so it sags...so ill just pay someone to re-do it all |

Be safer to use superglue as lube LOL...
And yeah, those clips suck badly. Ever noticed how so many of the important pieces of bodywork are held on with the dodgiest clips that GM could come up with. Anyone who has had the front bumper on/off will know what I mean.

^^LOL...sounds like it could have actually happened.
Probably how they came up with the idea of using the bloody two piece rope rear main seal...stupid ****ers. It's okay for the S2 guys, but the S1 is a bitch for that.

S1 is for chumps and homeless people (no offence to any of you fine people who own a series one :P)
Nah, the S1 was like the prototype for the vehicle, the way i see it their logic was "well make the car, call it series one, then when all these mothers and pissants complain, well tear out the things they dont like, put in the things they do, and say we made the car JUST for them, that way they love us" |

Actually the S1, for all that it was slightly less refined, actually produces more usable torque/power than the S2 motor.
Of course a lot of the difference is from the memcal (and there's quite a few differences between the early and the late memcal programs). But just from a few minor mechanical changes the torque band is pushed slightly higher up (reducing wheel spin, but also gives a slightly slower launch from the line) and idle is smoothed out compared to the S1.
I have an S1, but I know that not everyone loves them as much as I do. But despite the fact that it leaks in a few places that are a bitch to fix it goes like stink, I've got one of the earliest memcal chips in the VN range, so it's not refined in the least, but DAMN...in the wet I can pull wheel spin in 4th from 80kph :) |

I dont argue that S1 kicks much ass...I just say their for chumps because MINE IS BETTER MWAHAHAHAHAHA lol...nah S1 kicks ass because no one fiddled with it :P stupid parents with their no wheel spins making mine less powerful...THEY SHALL PAY! Yeah but anywho with a bag of holy crap... I installed the boot neons into my VN today...not the project, the other one. They look pretty awsome acctually. their hard wired with a regulator switch...i was gonna hook them up to the interior light, but the guy who wired the car himself has taken the wire and hidden it so well an X-Ray couldnt find it :P |
