Theres plastic slides that holds the glove box in, and the seats can be unbolted using an allen key.

if you take the gear selecter off then it wont go on properly ever again, dont touch it. and when your undoing the bolts for the seats, put a lever bar over the end of the allen key to get more twisting effort.

all that sort of work is very possible if your careful with over spray and you angle the can and spray in short bursts.

Hey nodg, i still havent gotten around to cleaning my map sensor properly... I nearly broke my foot last week playing footy, so been gettin xrays and havent had time... But i did get around to checking the earth strap which looks in reasonable nick... I will try and check my exhaust once i can walk properly... lol! The rear muffler looks like its fairly worn, starting to rust a bit, but is still relatively quiet!!
I will let you know when i have fully cleaned my map sensor. Also, would it help you if i took a pic looking into my throttle body so i can show you how clean/dirty it is? Then i could decide if i need the mechanic to do a carbon deposit clean?
Two more things, could i just go out and buy a NEW map sensor from an autotrader would this help? What roughly do they cost? Also, could it have anything to do with my memcal? A friend of mine has a few spare STOCK chips lying around, would it be worth plugging these in and seeing if the car uses less fuel and runs better? Compared to my stock chip which came with the car? Cheers mate...

MAP sensors dont usually bust as there not directly near any heat source, i would try the most inexpensive things first and if you still think its a god idea to buy a new map then one from the wreckers is your best shot at around 30 bucks. First clean your throttle body and iac. i think you meant cleaning the iac not the map itself. spray a liberal amount inside the throttle body and butterfly with the throttle open and closed, youll see a little hole inside the throttle body, spray a good amount until the carbon stops running out, leave it for a minute to let it bite and repeat spraying to wash away the majority of the black carbon, wipe the remainder with a rag as far in as you can reach, in rare cases you need to remove the whole throttle body and unscrew the iac but 99% of the time the carby cleaner alone is good enough. Start your car, remebering that the carby cleaner contains acetone which is a highly flammable fuel so the car will take longer to start, a few squirts of the accelerator will speed things up. with the motor running spray carby cleaner into the throttle body at a steady idle giving it a few bursts of revs to blow carbon out the exhaust in which if you have that much carbon you can easily block your cataylic converter and mufflers. spray the iac the next day and youll clean more carbon. the easiest way to check for an exhaust leak is to see how much preasure is pumped out the tailpipe. if its very quiet and doesnt sound crisp then id get new mufflers and get them to check the cataylic converter when its on the hoist. as for the ecu memcals you will only notice a differance if your existing computer or memcal is faulty. even though holden had around 3-4 differant tunes from the vn-vr you should experience extreme economy loss.

So nodg, are you in favour of a pod filter or CAI kit running into the box? Do you sheild the pod or just aim it away from the engine? Cheers.

it is for the little gain you will recieve, dont get me wrong its not like bolting on a sports exhaust you wont notice it as much. you can do it and can consider it being worth it but its a pain of a job just for standard s2 headers

Hey nodg i finally got around to cleaning the throttle body with the cleaner. Did it last night. But i do have one question? I was spraying the cleaner into the second hole - the after the throttle plate?! The first one is the iac right?
Anyways hardly any carbon came out of it, the whole throttle body is still shiny and the rear chamber looks quite clean too! (150,000k's) I will test the fuel economy over the next week or so and let you know how it goes?
Lastly, if this doesnt solve my fuel isses do u have any other ideas? Can the rear fuel pump affect this? Cheers mate

sure can because on the intank pumps they have a 'sock' to filter out any debris and they are known for blocking up and overheating and thus affecting fuel consuption

All you need is the fuel tank and straps, you can use your existing breather hoses and wiring as they are the same as the 63 litre tanks. Just make sure you put the sender unit out of the 80 litre tank so the petrol gauge stays accurate.

the mounts are the same but where the column bolts to is a differant setup. i also think the vs was slightly wider so maybe the inner arms could be a differant size. but generally yes it will work

Yanna it took me 5 hours and it isnt that hard to do just a little bit of stuffing around. for me it was worth it because i installed a drop tank but i was getting the propper fuel gauge readout and it just looks better and also my fuel guage doesnt get stuck now. i got the wiring diagram off just commodores. but i also found it somewere on this site. also good idea is to use collor coded wires make's it much easyer. |

as benche said, it will go straight in and work but theres a bit of stuffing around getting the wiring hooked up and getting the petrol gauge accurate (if its a v8 cluster)
