Have a VN commodore after driving about 100kms (or an hour) sometimes even shorter, it starts dying like its starving for fuel amd loses power and I have to pull up, generally I wait a few minutes, start the car again and can go one for another 20 mins or 30 mins depending on what the car wants to do.
Anyone know what could be wrong?
I have done the following : new fuel pump, cleaned fuel tank, new fuel filter, cleaned injectors. new exhaust (including cat convertor)
Any ideas? as it feels like fuel.
I have had other issues with my other VN and had to replace the crank angle sensor??.
Could it be the coil pack??? and leads??
What sort of other problems are we experiencing with these V6s?? and just another point the fuel pickup in the tank is that different between a sedan and a wagon, as it sounds like my new fuel pump is trying to suck air not fuel??
Any help would be much Appreciated.

| to me it sounds like fuel, not spark, if it was leads or plugs the car would misfire badly under load.. such as giving it a boot full from the traffic lights. i would start with the easiest and cheapest thing, fuel filter, as it sounds like there isnt enough fuel getting through to the motor, it may well just be a blocked fuel filter, but ya say that youve already done it, i would then look at the fuel pressure regulator, as it may be returning too much fuel back to the tank |

| I had similar issue, I got a throttle body from the wreckers, gave it a good clean inside, put it in and it's been fine since. Didn't cost much and wasn't more than an hours work as a beginner. |

| I had the exact same problem with my wagon. i found it to be the crank angle sensor. buy a new sensor and that'll fix you up. |

yeh the crank sencor, is a common one for that to happen. but does it make any funny noises like loud tappets and grinding grears in the block etc. cos if it does that it could be the oil pick up in the sump, cos a m8's 202 did that you were able to drive for a while 50-70k's and then it would just die.
and you probable dont have very long until your car wont even start if its the crank angle sensor. because they tent to go out slowly but then all of a sudden it will just not work at all. |
