Okay, my p/s pump is having a bit of a leak, and I'm not happy about it. It's not spraying out, but it needs to be fixed. I've heard that there are reco kits available for them, but I've also heard that they can be a bit of a bitch to fit. Has anyone reco'd their own p/s pump?

More to the point, if it's too hard to reco the pump, how much does a new one cost?

I'm slowly going around my engine bay fixing the leaks and this is the highest up one (start at the top and working down).

LOL...I thought about suggesting that, but one thread on that is enough.

I know that the rack/pump combo costs about that much, hell...I got my rack done not so long ago, for $500 (incl labour). I'm actually starting to wonder if it isn't leaking from one of the hoses, might have to pull it all out to check it.

Don't feel like having my car catch fire!

lol I dont think anyone feels like having their car catch fire but if you can jack it up enough take a look at the rack n make sure its not leaking and try checking the fittings on the hoses cos at one stage I was about to dish out $750 because of a leak and i took a look when they lifted the car up and told them to piss off cos I saw it was coming from a loose hose which I then tightened up when i got home and voila... suckers were about to rip me hard

Hey mouce i had a p/s leak 4 ages me and tha old man kept headin bak 2 tha pump till we found a return hose down by the exhaust manifold on tha drivers side. The hose clamp had come loose and was stuffed due 2 havin p/s oil runnin thru it 4 ages. I suggest jackin tha car up and checkin this b4 blowin cash on tha pump. It is a U shape hose if i can remember correctly jus near the joiner 4 tha manifold and tha rest of the exhaust. Think it would b same on all vns. Give it a go anyway and let me no if that was tha prob.

Cheers for all the help guys, I'll have a look at all the hoses, I'm going to replace them all when I do the next service anyway, so I'll have to see if that helps it.

I know it's not the rack, because there's red fluid on the front of the engine ;)
