i was driving in my girlfriends mums vp and noticed that once you hit around 40km/h u can hear a clunk coming from the back of the wheels. it only seems to be when you hit 40 but only clunks once or twice. its got me confused.

Does it happen on a gear shift or just while cruising?

If it's on a gear shift I'd say that you should check out the uni-joint at the diff. If it's just while you're cruising, have a look at the suspension rubbers.

I take it you are talking about the rear wheels aren't you?
