Okay, I have a feeling that there were a few more typos in that one from Trizo than usual probably because of a few EXTRA beers consumed in celebration.
From what I can work out, trizo was suggesting that you take off the inlet manifold (the big thing with the 3800 on it) and check out the little chambers that the coolant flows through (aka. the water jacket).
Before doing all that though, I'd suggest that you do a full reverse flush of the cooling system to blow any junk out of there that you can, replace the thermo fan with one you KNOW works and then see how it goes. Believe it or not that's a lot easier and with more chance of seeing an improvment. |

| I'll do that as soon as I've replaced all the cooling hoses in my car. Half way down Hoddle St (for those of you who know it) I see the smallest wisp of steam coming out of the bonnet. Pulled it over and shut it down straight away (appologies to the pedestrians I nearly killed), hose from the manifold to the top of the waterpump had crapped itself. Thankfully I didn't lose too much coolant so I didn't do the head gasket, but DAMN! It's in the garage now, and I'm going to do a full write up for anyone who is interested. Lucky lucky me! |

YAY...all our cars have crapped themselves in sympathy. It's taken me 5 hours, but all the hoses are changed, the block and radiator have both been flushed and I even managed to test the thermostat (I managed to get the cover off without cracking it ;))
Gotta go down and check the levels for the final time, and then it will all be happy, time for another beer me thinks.
Had to get it all done today for the meet tomorrow. |

hey cheers trizo..also mouce n the boys nice to see the face behind the avatar... Phillip Island was mad. did 2min30.07 the porsches do 1min 59 so it wasnt that bad for an old auto VN but she sure didnt like it. She was screaming bloody murder and shifting at 5500rpm.... 164kph max down the straight...didnt have the balls to take the corner at 180kph so I took it easy. Most corners were taken at about 100-120kph and suprisingly felt slow. Honda Corner was a b1tch... had to slow down to 80 and then the asss went out.... so yeah dont take an auto VN round a track cos its not very good pulling out of the corners.... and it hurts to see a wrx and an rx7 scream past at approx 140kph when ur struggling to get some traction.
Next time im going is in march and the project car will hopefully have coil overs and a turbo so I'll be looking forward to scaring the sh1t outta those ricies |

yeah but the WRX and the RX7s are sports cars, their designed for that. Well not the WRX its a rally, but the RX7 i wouldnt expect to have a snowballs chance in hell against. Oh and about the VN cornering :P lol... accelorating out is a BAD idea :P wait till u get some traction first, i learned that doing 145 round a corner... i almost died... it was funny...
Hey mouce, have you got a howto on flushing your cooling system? i think mine needs one cause shes being a bi!@h and im going to eat my cars liver :@ BOOYAH! |

| I'll get a how-to on flushing the cooling system happening soon, just got a dog, so I've gotta spend a bit of time helping it to settle in at home. Seven year old male Kelpie. Poor little guy is still a bit unsure of things. |

| HELLO... I must say we have a new member of the family... im very excited to tell u guys that my new VN is the quickest V6 I have ever driven. Im taking it down to the workshop tommorow but yeah, having not driven a manual in quite a while, I stalled it at first thanks to the heavy duty clutch but to my delight when i attempted another take off... the back kicked out and it left 2 yes 2 tyre marks on the road... this thing sounds like a beast and goes like one too however it will need a bit of aesthetic TLC... but yeah in the next 6 months I will be selling the pacemaker extractors, exhaust, lowered king springs, and maybe the magnaflow cat converter.... all I want is $500 for the lot.... Extractors are stil blue... exhaust looks brand new... springs are still yellow lol and the cat IS brand new. Also the tail lights are brand new and the boot garnish looks new... if anyone wants em, I've already gotten Calais tail lights and boot garnish. |

You manage to get the bonnet open again when you got the car home from the meet? Now you just need to adjust the bonnet latch pin so that it doesn't jam as badly.
What pipes has the new one got on it? 2.5" full length? |

| yep I can now open the bl00dy thing lol, looked underf the car and it looks like 2.5" from the pacemakers to the cat, the same from the cat but it looks like the muffler is before the diff and axle and there seems to be some sort of joint going up over the axle and all i can see from the rear of the axle is a matt black 2.5" pipe going to the back to 2 mandrel bent 2.5" chrome tips.... loks immac... sounds fruckin great, you could almost mistake it for a worked V8.... will need to get the car on the hoist at the shop to tell you for sure...... just figured you might want the whole package. |

Use the search panel to find information about the different viruses that can involve a file called project1.exe there seems to be three or four that it could have been. Then you'll need to work out which one it is, and follow the removal instructions.
Once you've got everything up and running properly there's two things you need to do 1) get yourself a GOOD virus scanner and set it to do a full system scan once a week. My personal preference is for Symantec Corporate Anti-virus. Well...actually Symantec Corporate Client Security (AV and a firewall).
Then 2) you need to get a pen and paper and write out 100 times: "I must back-up my files once a month". Yeah, it might be a pain in the butt, especially if you've got a couple of hundred gig of storage sitting there. BUT...you can get 750gig hard drives now if you really need to back up EVERYTHING, however I would suggest musics, movies, documents and saved games would be enough. Other than that...it should all be replaceable.
Computer viruses shouldn't just 'happen', with good quality software on the system and a bit of user education, there's no reason to ever get a computer virus. My computer has been running this installation of Windows XP for 3 years, and not once has it gotten a virus that I didn't put on it deliberately. |

AVG aren't all that wonderful. Sophos aren't bad, but Symantec (Norton) are the best of the best around. Ad-Aware is also handy to have, but so far it's not picked up anything that Symantec has missed (Symantec also has a malware scanner built in).
That's the joy of having my own computers. I have five or six in my room (lost count), and have managed to provide the other members of the family with their own, so if they do something stuipd with their computers, I've still got mine sitting here. |

Sophos is quite alright. I've got a mate who swears by it, and in all fairness, he has never gotten done with a virus, despite having a little brother ;)
As for Symantec, I've never been screwed by their Corporate Edition software packages, but their "Home" packages suck balls. I'll put it this way, with the Home stuff, it's slow, in-your-face and doesn't grab everything, and when it does grab something it automatically asks you what to do with it. The Corp. Ed. Stuff is quicker and hasn't missed anything that I've ever come across (and I come across some funky stuff), it's updated almost daily, and in the situation you were in where someone ran a program that came in an e-mail, it would have probably picked it up in the e-mail and not let you run it, or when you did run it, it would have locked the system until it had deleted the file. Either way, you would have been safe.
Doesn't really matter that much though, a lot of it comes down to personal preference. |
