when fuelling up my vp the fuel takes a long time to go in,it just keeps blowing back out the filler if you hold the trigger on full.WTF?

bit strange?? I would be having a look to c that there isnt a screwdriver or the sort jammed down there from a previous refueling attempt!!!

i have a very similiar problem with my vn. ive tryed not putting the fuel nozzle all the way in and also not squeezing the trigger the whole way. hope it helps

yeah thats the same problem,I've been doing the same things you described but i want to fix the problem,I'm gunna have a good look at it on the weekend .If i work it out I'll post the answer here ,thanks for your feedback bra!

your problem lyes in the breather hoses to the fuel tank, there probably kinked or some **** lower the tank straps and check it out.

does anyone have an accurate and easy to understand diagram of how the breathers hoses ALL line up because i had to take my tank out and replace them but there wasnt anything to replace, they all crumbled LONG ago to nothing so i want to be sure where i put all the hoses. Breather hoses and any going to tank or filler pipe. Cheers

There's 2 little ones and one big one, all at the same spot on top of tank...they all have to go through that small loop in the steel reinforcement that runs along and supports the boot.

It is a tight squeeze to get them all through there, particularly after you've attached them to the tank (I only clamped the big one with a hose clamp and left the small two just pushed on tightly)

I firstly fed them through that hole in the steel body rail, raised empty tank on trolley jack until I could just get my hand and light in there, then put hoses on tank and clamped the big one, and finished raising tank whilst being careful the hoses did not severely kink or prevent the tank from going up like it needed to. It's a bit of a pita, cos that big breather hose is TIGHT going through that hole in the body. And if that big one kinks badly, you'll never be able to fill the tank properly at servos..it'll drive you nuts every time you fill up. Anyway, get the tank all the way up with hoses unkinked/unsquashed, then install tank support straps.

The little hoses from tank I ran to the two bottom outlets of that plastic vapour tank that attaches to the bottom of the filler neck. The big vent hose runs all the way up to the top of the neck, so make sure you buy a long enough piece. I just did all this, and it is a bit of a pita all round. Repco didn't even have a big enough diameter fuel hose for that breather - had to go to a hydraulic hose place...not sure if it is 5/8 fuel hose? (Don't quote me on that)..

I had done these hoses previously, by going to an industrial hose specialist. I thought that was being smart, but the small diameter hose they gave me was really too thick and inflexible...I *think* what I have now is regular 5/16 fuel hose (not high pressure) and that is much more flexible which will protect those delicate brazed fittings on top of the tank.

All I got originally years ago for the big hose was clear "fuel resistant" hose, which worked, but it turned very hard over the space of a few years. The proper fuel hose I got is much more flexible and should stay that way for years.
