Electric supercharger? I hope you're getting it cheap mate.
And without trying to rain on your parade- that air filter is asking for trouble. If you get caught in heavy rain or drive through a puddle the chances of your engine copping a gutful of water is extremely high. A mate on my forum had a car take on a fair amount of water and it was rebuild time.

| there was a few old topics here some were about them, I think you will find the only realy problem with them is that they draw sh1t loads of power from the batt, and get realy hot! |

| Yup- and do about 5/8th of **** all for power. But if you are picking it up cheap enough it's got to be worth it just for a laugh. |

I'd pay no more than $50 sheerly for novelty value.
$600 would get you some diff gears with change. |

| I would definately not expect 30kw from it mate. No doubt there will be a placebo effect and the denim dyno will read high but you're probably looking 5kw if your lucky... at the flywheel. |

| If I was so inclined to do the old downpipe CAI, I'd buy a hornet scoop and plump a pod filter up to sit in it. Hornet scoops looks tough, yours would be functional (a little bit anyway) and you'd get all the same power without the risk of puddles. |

***********WORD OF WARNING********** electronic superchargers do not work, trust me i was fooled into buying one. complete waste of time, actually noticed a slight decrease in power. when you think about it logically there is no way it would work,
A. an electronic fan(even at 30,000rpm) will not create boost(its a fan it BLOWS air) it isnt a turbine
B. it sucks alot of power from your alternator/battery leaving less power for your engine.
C. the fan actually restricts your air intake. Because your cars engine naturally sucks more air the the fan can produce, it partially blocks you air induction, making for pumping loss.
1 more thing, since you guys always stating bout keeping ya cars street legal, doesnt having an aftermarket forward facing scoop(such as a HORNET) make it a defect?? |

| dano, its only illegal if it sticks up and blocks your view, youd only want a subtle scoop like on the new gts's |

| lol nodg is right there! unless it blocks ya veiw and is a hinderence rather than a feature you would be defected straight away, you can fit any scoop to any car providing its not in the way of you vision! |

It varies from state to state- it would have to be a Hornet Street Scoop Low which are quite small.
I know in some states it does have to be rearward facing though- I just can't remember exactly what.
The other thing is- if you are running one, you'll probably get more than your fair share of attention. But if you have a pod scraping the ground at the front of your car you're going to get that anyway. At least the scoop would actually look good. |
