Hi guys my tip comp beeps at me like do di do di do di do di (either 4 or five do di repetitions)
what does this mean
or better yet what are all the trip comp beep warnings for future reference.
ive been searching for a couple of hours now not being able to find sh*t on trip comps.
if anyone has a link to some trip comp instrustions that would be great.
aslo my Distance to empty reads 0 all the time.... ive had the cluster in for around 35k's now and still no reading..
i braught this cluster off ebay and was told there is nothing worng with it but it seems there is does any one know what action i should take against this... (the lcd lights dont work and there were a few clips broken when i recieved it and im getting beeped)
also does anyone know how to do a diag test on the cluster what should be done at the same time (eg handbrake must be up??)

Dumb question, but is your car actually a Calais? or did you drop it in a lower model?
I always thought that there was an extra wire or two that had to be run from the computer to the cluster for the extra functions of the Calais setup. I'll keep digging through my stuff and let you know what I find, if I find anything that is. |

i dropped it in an exec and ye i did run the wire to the ecu for fuel consumption etc and it all works
i went over everything on the weekend and found i wired everything right but there was one wire im unsure about and its marked (grey on conn 4) RHEO START ive been following the PCB as a guide for wiring but the RHEO START is the odd one out (apart from the ECU Black and yellow wire but i know that works cause i get all my fuel consuption and fuel used figures on the dash)
the only thing that doesnt work for some reason is the Distance to empty
an interesting thing i found on the weekend is that when in special features mode and I look at the volts for the fuel left in the tank its at 7.8 and when i go to adjust the tank settings (yes its set correctly via the 80l - 60l switch) it will say i have 0 liters at full +10 cal and when i lower the setting it goes into minus liters of fuel in the tank.
now im getting the feeling that the beeps are for low fuel and im also thinking that perhaps a sensor for the digital readout is stuffed (thats presuming there are two senders since my analogue guage works fine) |

LOL set the cal to 0 and watch the fuel count up, when you get to -10ltrs fill it then. Doesn't solve the problem, but it would work.
I didn't know that there was a second fuel gauge sender for the digital stuff, I would have thought that one would have covered both.

| nope dont know any leccys i dont know if there is another sender im just guessing that there may be since the trip comp has wrong readings but the standard guage works fine |

the beeps have stopped since i put petrol in it lol
it could have been a low fuel beep im not sure cause ive only had the dash about a week now
either that or i may have a dodgey solder join on the fuel level wire but i havnt had any dramas since
oh and now when i do a trip comp test it doesnt fail anymore where when the DTE wasnt working the test came up with fail in the middle screen
its got me stuffed cause all ive done is pull it out and put it back in
im not dodgey when it comes to wiring I alwasys solder and at least tape them up, i spose the plug may not have been pushed hard enough into the cluster aswell
its really strange that it just started working and it was around the same time i filled up wich was after id been rechecking wiring etc so i still have nfi why its working now |

| I had dramas with mine doing the same thing. All trip functions read normal but @5sec after starting the engine i got the beep sequence. Post all your other reading off your display, I'll get mine and post them here for you to compare. |
