G'day Not Long Bought Me a VN, Excellent Car. Owned a VS also at one stage and it had nothing on the VN, Probably cause i thrashed the hell out of it. Just interested in some ideas or mods that can be done to my car. Dont wanna spend a whole lot, just want it to run, look and sound respectable. any ideas is much appreciated.

There's a few simple ones covered here. http://www.vncommodore.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=193
Other than that, I'm a fan of sleepers. So a set of silver interceptors with some really good rubber on them (Yokohama A539's were my rubber of choice, but they stopped making them). And maybe run FE2 suspension (with nolathane bushes, a strut tower bar and really good gas shocks), some people like going lower, but the lower the car the higher the insurance, and FE2 was a factory option so insurance doesn't really get screwed up. If you want a slightly louder induction noise under full load at WOT then a high flow washable POD air filter (K&N if you don't drive on too many dusty roads, otherwise get a unifilter one). As for a slightly louder exhaust note...if you don't want to spend a fortune, a cat back 2.5" system with a hotdog on the back shouldn't set you back more than a couple of hundred dollars. If you've got more to play with, a set of pacemaker extractors, into a full length 2.5" sports exhaust.
Also...if it's still got the mudflaps (and you don't drive on gravel much), take them off. Looks much better.
My biggest tip, if it's an auto...save up for a manual conversion. The auto's aren't bad, but the manuals ROCK. |
