| thermostat, water pump or engine fan, if its a blown head gasket warm the motor up, and check the oil level see if its white, check for water or white smoke coming out the back of the car, also was the old coolant brown? |

Started car and it started to over heat after having it run for about 5 minutes i noticed steam coming from coolant resivour is that normal and continues steaming for about 4-5 minutes the coolant started seeping out of where u pour coolant in radiator and steam continued to come out of resevour. It then got about to half temp rating on dashcluster and the coolant came spattering out of the radiator where u put cap on. this happend about 11 minutes in total is it still air pockets or is it something much bigger i have changed the thermostat and the housing and hose replace the radiator and changed the coolant after flushing out old coolant. . .any help would be sweet :) |

| Sounds like either head gasket or a cracked head/block. Sorry to say but thats the way it looks |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

| just make sure the coolant is circulating properly, i know youve only just put new collant in but take the water pump off and check the fins are still intact and in good condition (and bearing is still spinning). did you get a garden hose and blast everything out or did you just remove and replace a hose? also check the thermo fan by switching the aircon on and make sure the fan is running continuously and not cutting in and out. i doubt its the block or even the head cracking, unless youve really overheated it for a long period. if anything i wouldnt be going head gasket as worst case senario |

easy fix go into supercheap ask for a thermo fan universal temp switch
this fits a wire under the top radiator hose and then you can adjusted you fan to kick in at your desired temp this is a common mod for series 1 vn's
this kit is so easy to fit !!!! |

| ok well ill give that a try.I could just run engine fan on a switch and hope it works lol.Just got to remember to turn it on haha hmm well i checked the water pump and all is sweet coolant should be flowing. If it was to overheat and spit the water out like it did it must have been like there was a blockage and when the engine cut out it just released the coolant and wooosssh out it came lol anyways i am hoping it isnt the block or heads it hasnt been doing it for that long and when it had the problem i would wait for it to cool then eventually get to where i was going. . well ill give it a try let u guys know ok cheers Tell me what u think bout getting a vt v8 in to a vn ????? sounding really good atm money aint a problem :) |

you havent told us if the fans working properly or not! If it is then switching it on at a lower temp wont do you any good you need to find the source of the problem And a vt v8 is pretty much a vn v8 except for a few minor things like SSV, differant headers etc. |

ok mate...... not sure if you have them over there........but if you do, take it to an Auto Masters. They do a free cooling system check......thats right free. They pressurise it and check for leaks, blockages, check all your sensors, and check the head gasket and head block. if not.....well i dunno :p |
