This morning a close mate of mine passed away. He had spent the last three and a half days in a coma after being involved in a motorbike accident. I want to use this opportunity to ask everyone to be twice as careful on the roads this easter. My good friend was the victim of a car driver who failed to do a head check before attempting a right hand turn into a side street from the left lane. I know there are a few forum users that ride road bikes and I ask them to remember that many times, car drivers cannot see them properly and to take that extrra care at all times. For those who drive, try not to make instant decisions that can have tragic consequences and check your surroundings very carefully at all times. People tend to take such precautions lightly (I have done so myself in the past) but they suddenly take on a new meaning when such a mistake costs the life of someone close to you. For those of you that are religious, please say a prayer this easter not only for my close friend Marcus Rogulic but more so for his 2 year old son and his wife who is 5 months pregnant. Just for the record, you wont catch either me or my cousins riding roadbikes again #a cos this has scared the living ****k out of us and #b cos it was my cousins bike that was destroyed in the accident. Once again please take extra care on the roads and have a safe easter.
Marcus Rogulic Rest In Peace

This stands not just for the Easter holidays, but for every day you're on the roads.
All it takes is for a split second lapse in concentration and lives can be lost.
I hope everyone on the forum takes the time to read this message, and it makes them think about their OWN driving practices. Getting the dints out of a car costs a bit of time and a little bit of money, getting dints out of a human being takes a bit longer...putting lives back together, that in itself takes a life time.
Drive safe, live well. |
