Hi Guys I had a post on here previously where my car was having probs, anyway heres the update on my problems/what I've done etc. Ok originally I thought that my starter motor/solenoid wasn't working so I recently brought a brand new starter motor, installed it and the car started fine. Took her for a little drive and realised that the battery wasn't charging, I am assuming that it was the dodgy battery terminals I had, so I brought new ones and all good. Now here is the prob, the car wont turn over, I get like one crank out of the starter motor then nothing, I made sure the battery wasn't flat and even had another car jump starting mine to be sure. I can't figure it out? Why wont it start what could be causing this? Its no doubt some stupid electrical problem. Could it be Crank angle sensor? someone suggested this to me but would that cause your car not to turn over?
Any help much appreciated guys
Cheers

| Is the little orange light of death a warning light or such on the dash cluster? I haven't noticed but I'll check later. Where is the coil pack and how can I check it to see if its sh1t itself? I didn't know VN's had coil packs, I thought that a coil pack was what some cars like my bros z32 300zx had for each spark plug instead of using a distributor. Correct me if I'm wrong, Cheers for the info |

| yeah m8 the light of death is a little orange light on the dash of a engine! if this is on or comes on when driving let us know and we can step u through it, otherwise mouce has put 2gether a realy good how2 on diagnosing the little light and getting the codes! also the vn's came out with a coil pak although they changed them to a more reliable c/p on the series 2 engine which is like your bro's and runs each plug'n cylinder indervidualy.. the series 1 engine havem as well but tend 2 pak up a bit more easily.. 2 locate the coil pak just trace your skark plug leads bak to a little box at the front of the engine .. This is your coil pak! there was 1 more thing that I thought of and that was the power wire running from your starter motor 2 the battery may of come loose from the starter! will get bak 2 ya on testin the coil pak! |

ok from what I can c here the easiest way to test your coil pak is with a multimeter.
1. with the ignition onplace the + clip of the m/m to the + terminal on the coil pak
2.place the - clip of the m/m to a earth (or body ground) the voltage on the meter should read 12volts c if this helps at all! |

| I had a similar problem on Monday, thought my car wouldnt turn over cuz of the starter motor. Charged the battery for abit tried again teh car started, but head unit, amp and the likes wouldnt turn on, put my foot on the brake and it nearly stalled. so charged the battery for 24 hours, car starts first shot atm, but i have worked out that the alternator is royally stuffed and its tiem for a newy, cuz the battery aint charging. this might help if its not the coil pack. |
