Hi just wondering if anyone could shed some light on a problem i am facing? Ever since having some work done on my car, where the dash was removed by the 'professionals', the fan and A/C switch lose all power. There doesn't seem to be any controlling factor, it is an intermitent problem and is getting really frustrating.
Would anybody be able to recommend or advise where i can get information or help about this?

| m8 sounds as if they slaped it bak in with out connecting it bak bak properly !! but in saying that have a look at your fuses and relays!! aslo there are vacum hoses behind the air controls, maybe they havnt put them bak on the right outlets??? its a bit hard to say realy , I'm sorta feeling around in the dark here so... another thought , have you had your battery tested? when they start to die they can do some funky things to instraments.. ie not work properly!! I know this is not much help hang in there and stay posted there are heaps of guys and girls on here that have alot of knowledge keep a eye out and they will respond! |

So the entire dash came out? Not just the cluster or the center console, but the whole thing?
Sounds like they managed to either a) not re-connect the wires to the fan switch or the motor or b) damage one of the wires that controls the fan motor. Either way, I think you'll need to get up close and personal with the wiring loom for the fan. Get your hands on a multimeter and start testing the wires.
You'll need to pull a few of the dash panels off to get access to it, first up, test the power wire for the fan speed selector switch, test it for voltage and make sure that it does not jump up and down (this would indicate a damaged wire).
Getting to the fan is another matter all together, I'm not entirely sure it's possible without taking the dash out, I know you can get access to it by taking out the glovebox and taking the kick panel out in the footwell, but I'm not sure if you can get to the wiring that way, or if it's just the blades.
I'll keep thinking about it. |
