It could be many things, i would suggest coil pack myself. To see if the coil pack is rooted take your car fvor a drive and get it to running temp so maybe 10 min drive or something, pull over and check the coil pack temp i.e see if one part of the pack is hotter than the others, if so replace it. Also is your vn series 1 or 2? to tell series one radiator hose on drivers side goes to bottom of engine and series 2 goes to top...
Fuel filter is possible and for $5-$10 you can get a new one and replace it yourself so its quite easy to check, and if it doesnt turn out to be that then your only $10 out of pocket and you know your filter is all good ;)
One last thing to check when you turn your key onto the stage before you start your car can you hear your fuel pump going? if its realy loud that can be a sign that its rooted and about to let go. it did it to me and my car ran like your describing yours does. |

Chasing a fault like that could prove to be expensive- you'll probably replace a number of things before you get the right one!
Is it a six or an eight? Do you get any error codes under certain driving conditions? Does it only do it at high RPM / speed? How's the idle?
They're just a few more small details which may make something jump out at someone here. I'm sure we'll get it sorted though. |

For it to be missing it could be one of any of the following (and I dare say there's a few that I haven't mentioned), I left out leads because you've already done them:
* Coil Pack * DFI module (the big thing that the coil packs bolt onto) * Earth Straps (the wire webbing strips that connect various pieces to the frame of the vehicle) * Fuel filter * Fuel pressure regulator * Injectors * Burnt Valves (I hope for your sake that it isn't) * Busted timing chain tensioner * Loose connection to the CAS
And there's a few more that it could be, but those are the easiest ones to check/test/eliminate
Yeah, it's got the potential to be expensive, but we can normally narrow it down enough to save some serious dollars. |
