Moved these two posts to keep the other thread on topic. Never be afraid to start your own threads.
The fuel pump may be doing okay, but check the fuel filter too. A blocked filter will make a huge difference. The filter sits on the drivers side chassis rail just in front of the rear axle.
Other than that, fouled spark plugs could do it, but you'd notice a bit of a mis-fire at idle (worse than normal). A blocked exhaust would do it for SURE. Most likely to be blocked in the catalytic converter, if it's blocked then the back pressure gets too high and the engine can't clear itself. Drop off the catalytic converter and have a look through it, if you can see little squares of light when you look through it you're safe.
A busted fuel pressure regulator would also do it, because the engine would 'starve' as it gets higher in the rev range. Also, a VERY VERY loose throttle cable could do it, if you can't open the throttle too far you won't be able to get the revs up.
Has the car always done this? If not, did it just happen one day or did it slowly get worse over time? |

| Well as you know we swapped the engines from Vn series1 to a vp series2 due to a screw that had dropped in the motor before we bought it that shattered the piston we got the vp motor in and running its running better since the fuel senders been taken out its a puzzle unless the fuel pump is on its way out. |

As I've said, there are a lot of things that could be causing it. The fuel pump/sender is only the very first part of the fuel system...keep looking, there's got to be something else in there.
One thing did cross my mind, was it a VN S1 engine or an S2 engine that you destroyed? If it is the memcal from the S1, then I'd expect it to run a little rough at idle, but it should still get over 3000rpm without too many problems. Officially redline is at 5500rpm. However, the ecu starts to lean the fuel off from somewhere around 4850rpm and normally won't let it rev past 5625rpm. Though those figures do depend on which version of the VN chip you've got. |
