i need help! my vn runs like a peice of **** when i stomp it. it coughs and splutters and even backfires! followed by the engine light coming on. i thought it might be the coil pack but i changed that and it still does the same thing. it seems to run ok when cold and at travelling speed (100km/h) but the engine light still comes and goes. could it be the map sensor or the crank angle?? i just dont know it only just started doing it out of the blue. please help!!

Mine had a similar problem- my error code was 33- MAP sensor.

Strangely enough, after I went through self diagnosis etc. it never happened again. I've got a new MAP sensor on order just in case!

Has it affected your idle at all?

Before checking for error codes, make sure you reset the ecu, then go for a drive. When the light comes on again, pull over and get the code...otherwise you could be reading 'old' codes.

The fuel pump is it whinning heaps while driving and when you turn the car off does it stay on for say 10 seconds?? if it does time to change the fuel pump.

When my VN was doing what yours did like didnt have power when i gave it abit and it would cough and splutter and wouldnt change gear. Once i had changed the fuel pump went good as new.

Fuel pump from Wreckers = $50

But i would still check the error code first coz mouce knows his shizzle. :D

Kempo.
