I don't know about the VP V6, but the engine number is stamped onto the VN V6 block on the section below the alternator (next to the timing chain cover). If your engine is anything like mine, get a rag to wipe the oil/dust off there so you can read it.

Just had to get the wife to take it home for me. Who thought of putting the stupid light switch where you are bound to knock it and let the battery go flat...
