How do you know what tyre pressure you should have? Is it more specific on the car or what tyres you have. My original tyres were "Skypower 185 R14" and they were at 28psi first i checked. Recently had my tyres changed to "Bob Jane All rounders 215 R14" and they were at about 42psi hot!!!

42psi when hot is nothing to get worried about, that's why you always check tyre pressures when they are cold. As the tyre heats up the pressure increases.

Tyre pressures are as much about personal preference as they are about what the manufacturer claim. Holden actually recommend running at 28psi, because it gives the best ride, however handling, tyre wear and fuel consumption all go to sh!t. I personally like having mine up at about 36psi, it's a little more bumpy, but it handles a lot better, tyre wear is reduced considerably, and fuel consumption is a lot nicer. Being so hard traction in the wet can be a bit of an issue, but if you drop them down to 32-34, traction in the wet isn't too much worse than stock.

Check them when they are cold and make them about 34 and see what you think.

Get the new issue of street commos. It comes with a tyre gauge. haha...what a weak as post by me. oh well, i did my part. by the way, it should say on your tyre what the max psi should be. You no how itll say 225/45/R16 or whatever? it should be close that but some tyres dont have it.
