The time has come to give my car a service and having never serviced a VN before any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Plan on oil change & plugs, clean the injectors....any other things I should do while spending the time?

any info on the best plugs to use would be appreciated as well.

Oil change (including filter), use a good oil, for engines less than about 300,000km I recommend penrite HPR15, for engines over 300,000 or with excessive oil leaks I'd go for penrite HPR30. But any good quality oil will be okay, no thinner than a 15W oil.

Air filter would be worth replacing (consider a washable hi-flow filter if you like). Otherwise a standard Valvoline air filter would be okay. Air filters get dirty really quickly.

Cleaning injectors? How you going to do it, will it be a shot of injector cleaner in the fuel tank, or a full ultrasonic clean?

Now I know that a lot of people will argue with me on this one, but, I just use the Champion spark plugs. Remember to gap them properly, 1.5mm. Don't forget the leads...they don't need to be replaced at every service, but you should have a look at them.

The VN takes about 4L of oil, and when you're draining it, a) have it 'warm' (not hot) and b) jack up the front drivers wheel.

If it's an auto, I'd be checking the condition of the fluid and doing a fluid change if it has been in there for 40,000km

In a manual, check the condtion of the fluid, do a change (if you can get it open, mine is siezed shut) and it's been there for more than 80,000km.

Check the brake fluid and the fuel filter too.
