hey, me and mi dad have been trying everything to make my car idle smoother and take off smoother.
We replaced the battery, high tension leads and flushed the radiator.
A mate at school said that if I cleaned out my throttle body that could just do it? If so do you know how I can do it? How many man hours will it take? Is it a pain in the ass?
The same guy also said something bout rebooting my computer or some sh**? How do I do that ?? Cheers fellas

yeah cleanig ur throttle body may help but this sounds like its in need of a realy good tune up. as far as I know cleaning ur throtle body is a peice of pie all u do is remove the air/vac pipe from ur air filter to ur throttle body and clean all the black soot out (if there is any) of the throttle body this will make a difference but still i think a full service is in order if u havn't already done it! |

| Hey i just took off my throttle body and it was very easy for me. Its just a matter of logic and looking where every thing goes back. Taking off the throttle body is a very good idea as you can also clean out your idle air control valve at the same time and once i did both of these my car is idling a heap better. To clean it i just used some petrol and a fine wire brush and a rag, worked a treat. As for how long, took me about half an hour to get off, clean and put back on so it doesnt take long. |
Boost me, and double clutch me so i can get my. Loss of Traction! |

Actually the best (and safest) solvent to use, is actually carby cleaner. And allowing for the fact that you can normally pick up cheap carby cleaner from repco from $3 a can, it's cheaper than petrol.
When you're cleaning it remember to invert it, so that no solvent can run down into the throttle position sensor, they don't like it, and they aren't too cheap to replace. |
