Hows it going guys?
Has anyone else seen those $300 electric intake 'superchargers' on ebay?

Go to www.force-flow.com
(or go to ebay)

Basically, it is a 4" tube with an inbuit fan(turbine) that connects to your battery that spins at 27000rpm and gives you 2psi of boost or something.
The fan sucks in extra air through your intake to the throttle body acting like a supercharger exept it doesnt run off your engine, it runs off the battery.
All you do is connect the tube to your existing intake and put a 4" pod on the end.
They look really nifty. Go to the site and tell me what you think.
I dont know how good they can be, but ill give them a good looking over.

They are bull****. Straight up. Don't waste your money...You'd have better results from spending $300 on stickers and neons.

Even if they are capable of producing a small amount of boost, if the fan is running constantly, that boost figure would be measured at idle, where the air requirements of the engine are at a minimum, as soon as you open the throttle the boost is just going to fall through the floor. Anything past about mid speed on the engine and the fan is going to actually cause you to lose power.

These products have been discussed and debunked on several other forums around the place. The only people who claim they do any good (that I've ever come across) are the manufacturers. Save your money. It's a scam product.

oh. bloody hell, thanks. i was gonna buy one.
but they say you should only switch it on when the throttle is opened fully, not a constant.
dont you think it would be good to have the extra power if you switch it on, floor it and then switch it off when your not having fun?

Another thing I had a look at was the power usage of it. 46A...HOLY ****!!! That's insane. I mean ****...the extra power you'd need to run that sucker would eat any possible fuel savings that you could gain from it.

As for having it there but switched off...any obstruction to the airflow, which this essentially would become, sucks power and uses more fuel. So you get a double whammy. Save your dollars for something that actually works.

wouldnt bother on them either, as what is 2psi sweet fa. and if ya wanna have fun sometimes drop in a manual box, sideways in 1, 2 or 3 is just a pop of the clutch away or even 4th in the wet. but then on the other hand if you go out n spend 1200 of a set of 17's and dont wanna destroy them 2 quick it is possible to try n slow the spinning sometimes lol...

Another thing, those 2psi, what engine is that measured on? Getting 2 pound into a 1.5ltr 4cylinder engine at idle would be a hell of a lot easier than getting 2pound into a 5ltr V8!

Ok, next time you go for a run around the block, try running with a straw in your mouth, and try breathing! Its almost impossible! Sticking ANYTHING inside your intake pipe is dangerous, it reduces the flow ENORMOUSLY and could potentially break off!!!
They do not work, and just block the air intake!!!!
