Depends on how low your car is, if it's riding at stock height (assumed to be FE2 cause you've got the V8) then you should be able to squeeze 17" rims with the appropriate profile tyres on there without any problems. Of course if you're trying to shoehorn wide tyres under a dumped car then you may start rubbing on things.

Hell, I think there is a VN with 19" rims on it crusing around Melbourne somewhere, sure a bit of work had to be done to get them to fit (coil overs on the front, roll the guards...). But you can get almost anything to fit if you do it properly.

FE2 was a factory option on all models, it came standard on the SS and BT1. If it did come with FE2 it should be stamped on the vehicle information plate attached to the firewall inside the engine bay.

As for what will fit and what won't fit...talk to someone at a tyre centre, not somewhere like your local Beurepairs, but at a shop which specialises in wheels and high performance rubber, maybe even try a syspension place.

I can name a few in Melbourne but that doesn't do much for you.

VY SS will fit an FE2 car. If it's been lowered aftermarket, make sure it has an adjustable panhard rod or the tyres will scrub the guards.

You can get anything up to a 20" wheel on a VN
I have a 89 VN with 20" wheels and 225/35/20 Nexen N3000 Tyres

A 17 will go on fine with a 235/45/17 off the SS.
The offsets are almost identical, the offset has changes 4mm from a VN to VZ.
The only car that has a drama is VP, with IRS as they have two different offsets on the wheel front to rear.

So even if you have FE2 on your car the wheels will go on fine.
Only recommendation is if it is lowered buy some short travel shocks.

The only mod i had to make was rolling the rear straight cut gaurd, only due to my wheels having an ET(offset) of 40 when they should be 42-45, and it is lowered with Kings Progressive Rate Super Lows and Boge Short Travel Shocks.

So dont stress just put them on there will be no drama.

Damn, any chance of some pictures of your ride? 20's on a VN, I've only seen pictures of a couple.

I never said that 20" on a VN looked any good, all I'm saying is that I've seen them before.
