pacemakers are the only way to go but the stock headers are flawed jump under your car and have a look at the connecting pipe it will have a dent in it wich restricts flow

Make your own cold air intake adn put a decent filter in it. Although it wont make it go much harder it should drive nicer.

Make sure that your throttle body actually opens up 100%. Many VN's only open up to about 80%, carefully grind the little stop post so that it opens a little more. Best improvement you can make.

Hell, mine opens to near on 100% but a mate had a VN that was much slower than mine, so we were looking into why and found his tb was only out to about 80% at 'full throttle', so we ground the little stump back a little so that it could open up to 100% and from that day on we were always neck and neck from the lights. Well worth looking at.

oh yes. I know bout the exhaust. Have ya actually looked under the car with a hoist. Its more restrictive than my 3 pack-a-day smokin grandpas osophagus. the headers have dints all over them. if you look where the rear of the exhaust meets the front of the front mufler, you will see how much room there is to fit a straighter exhaust.
Whatever you do, get a high flow cat as well if your gonna do the headers. it makes a real difference.
