Hello there yanna. Great question you have there. Well wat is panhard rod? Well panhard rod is a rod that is bolted onto you diff on one side and the other side i think to you chasis if i can remember, som1 correct me if im wrong cos im not sure with that one. But its normally used for when you lower your car.

Because when you lower your car the whole rear end of the diff kinda moves to one side leaving somtimes your tyre would start scraping. So thats when a pan hard rod comes along to straighten it. Wat you do is you bolt it on and you adjust it for it to sit straight. But not all the time when you lower your car the tyres start scraping on the guards. Take mine for instance its lowered and one side is very close to the guard but its not scraping yet there for i can wait till i can afford to get my pan hard bar to straighten my rear end. Anyways hope that helped and was understanding if it wasnt well im sure theres many users on here that can help you with your inquirey. B4DN XXXX

In less words a panhard rod is designed to provide sideways location of the diff. All live axle cars have them(live axle meaning not independent rear suspension)

What's the difference between understeer and oversteer?
Understeer is when the driver is scared.
Oversteer is when the passenger is scared.

If you lower your car it would be a good idea to get an adjustable panhard rod to centralize the diff and stop the wheels scrubbing on the right hand guard. The last time i looked at them a whiteline one was between 150 - 200.

got mine for 150 and its a must for lowering a car, you wont notice it but there is more strain on the uni joints and the tailshaft itself when the diff is put off centre. if you have wide tyres you will definately need one as the tyres will scrub as mentioned, or the wheels wont fit on the car at all. depends how low you are going, the lower the car the more the diff will be off centre

Cheers,
Nodg.

A Panhard rod or track bar is a component of a car suspension system that provides lateral location of the axle heres a pic 2 http://www.btinternet.com/~jhpart/trike2a.gif

if your needing one because you either want to or already have lowered ur car you will need an adjustable pahard rod. that way if you want to sell the car or raise it to stock height you dont really have to stuff around too much. i have one in my vn as when i lowered it my left rear tyre was scrubbing out on the guards really bad. as soon as the rod was installed it never did it again. they arent really that expensive when you think about the money it could save you. i paid 110 for mine, its money well spent when lowering your car if you ask me!
