Hi guys,
went to super cheap auto yesterday to buy a pod filter, the guy behind the counter said if you get pulled over with it, they will fine you and that they are illegal in NSW, is that true? I've seen a few guys on here with them, and I want one....

they're only illegall if not supported properly, you cant just install it and leave it hanging.......thats the same in WA. If its supported properly you shouildnt have any problems |

will a pod fit in the air box if you cover it up?
would that be bad for it? |

you'd have to get a specially made box cover. But if u want best performance, get the Cold Air Intake running into a custom box with a pod there. You get more air, and colder air. |

| better off to aim it away from the engine fan(so when it rains it doesnt get wet) and have no box, ive fiddled with cai's and pods and find pods give a bit more breathing wise and is quicker to install |

hey sweet thanx for that so im guessing by the looks it you just cut a bit out of the orignal air box
works fine? could that also double as a heatshield? |

| @ trizo i tried it but it wont fit fully inside since the pod filter is too large. the way it sits there i actually struggled to put that in likke that cos it just fitted. |

it all depends on how you've got it set up..... Some people just get a heatshield and run a pod open, others cai only, others are like Sweet's, but the custom cai and pod running from that that is made properly gets almost as good airflow as open pod, but a lot cooler air, even with a heatshield. Then again, depends on type of pod n cai...... |

The best method is to have induction pipe running through the standard box and out a cut hole in the gaurd then hav the pod on the end (attached by brackets)..the pod sits just behind the vent on the front bar.. serious cold air induction.. i'll see if i can post some pics..but if a police officer pops the bonnet it just looks like a standard air box.. This is what i was told: modifying the standard airbox IS illegal and the only reason pod filters are illegal is the sound emmisions are too loud..same goes with blowoff valves etc.. |
