Hey, just bought some racing heads of ebay which came of a drag car with the buik v6 engine, anyways they have been shaved and ported 80 thou with higher tention valve springs, if i put these heads on would it damage my engine at all, because i kind of need a reliable car still lol, thanks

| Depends on how much it's been shaved. If it's only just been shaved a tiny bit then there's a chance that it will be okay, however if it's been shaved any more than the 'tiny bit' then it will raise the compression and you could well end up bending a few things in the bottom of the engine. If you're going to look at shaved heads, get the bottom end of your engine 'strengthened' a bit. |

yea the heads were designed to raise compression, but just out of curiousity what happends to the bottom end of engine if something like my heads are put on

| Potentially your pistons can smash the valves and vice versa... depending on how much they have been decked. |

Depends on how much the heads have been shaved. If it's only a little bit then you'd not be up for many extra dollars, if it's been dropped a lot, then you'd want to look at some SERIOUS money for making it stronger. Bent crankshafts can get expensive 
Seriously though, I'd be looking at a full bottom end rebuild with a little bit of strengthening (something like the ACL race rebuild kit) if you're going to use shaved heads. |
