in the end its ur car and u have to look at it everyday. pick the ones that u are instantly pulled towards cause ur car is an expression of ur taste and not other peoples.
I mean i have standard calais rims on mine and i love em even though people chuck them out and upgrade. |

Depends, post up a link to each of the rims if you have one, then we can tell you what we think.
Keep in mind that as you change the size of the rim and the width of the tyre, you'll need to pick the correct aspect ratio to keep your speedo reading properly.

Play around with that to work out what size you can have and how much it will kill your speedo.

for the back got panasonic 6x9's 180 watt ones which u can pick up from wow sight & sound for $49 now lol, Well now for my front I want 6" splits but dont know wat yet? , i'm getting a 12" pioneer sub 800watts which picking it up for $80 new, which is going to sit behide the back midle sit and a fate wall up in the boot lol that to slow down the thelifs.
now i just need a hand of what watts amp i need to run it all i know its got to be a 4 channel but what size watts sould i got for? i was thinking 1000ws but i dont think u have to go for that high any ideas?
by the way i'm not really going hard core for sound seen so far my highest part is the head unit lol...

Okay...nice head-unit there. The 6" splits will be nice to have up front...but the 6x9's? Don't get me wrong 6x9's in cars without subs are okay (not great, but okay), but they really shouldn't be used in cars with subs. They will produce fairly good SPL readings, don't get me wrong there, but sound quality will be a tad ordinary.
Now...the power ratings that you've given, they actually tell me NOTHING about the speakers, look for the RMS power rating (sometimes called nominal), as this is the true power that the speaker will be able to handle. Peak power readings (the ones you've given) are useless when it comes to matching speakers and amps.
When you find out the RMS power of the speakers then I/we can start to recommend some amps to play with.
Just as a rough stab in the dark, the Jaycar amps are fairly good value for money, I know a lot of people who are happy with them. |

The true power rating is given in Watts, however it is either called the 'NOMINAL' power or the RMS power. Either one of those numbers would be fine, failing that, get onto the manufacturers website and find the spec sheet for the speakers. If after all that you can't find the RMS or the nominal power figure, sell the speakers and get a descent set of 6" 3-way co-axials for the rear.
A good start is the product number and the website.
As for the power output of your head-unit, I'd be betting (after having looked at the website) that it's 50x4 Watt MAX, which for that head unit will work out to be about 15-18WRMS. Which as you can see is why you should run an amp. Because the STOCK speakers in a VXII run at about 15WRMS, so that gives you some idea.
I must admit though, having only one pre-out on the h/u will be a tad limiting. You'll need to use a few sets of splitters to run all the speakers from amps. But I can step you through that when the time comes.
One thing I can almost guarantee is that you can SAFELY attach those speakers (not the sub) to the head-unit and rock-on happily. The head unit will drive the speakers well enough until you get the amps sorted.
To give you some idea I've got a JVC KD-G615 running a set of 4" Fusion splits up front and a dodgy pair of no-name brand 6x9's in the rear (they were there when I got the car, they are going to be replaced with a sexy set of 6.5" coaxials before the end of the year). All that with no external amps (because I haven't fitted it yet) and no sub (again, because I haven't fitted it yet), and that can hit more than 115dB before the speakers start to clip. That's enough to cause you serious problems with your hearing later in life. And my h/u is rated at 50x4 Watts MAX, same as yours. |
