First up you remove the black air pipe:
1) Undo the hose clamp holding the air pipe to the t/b
2) Undo the hose clamp holding the air pipe to the air box
3) Undo the bolt holding the air hose to the wheel guard (10mm bolt from memory, maybe 8mm)
4) Lift out air pipe

Then it's onto the t/b
1) Disconnect accelerator cable (and kickdown cable if auto)
2) Disconnect vacuum hoses (there's three of them)
3) Disconnect electrical connectors (two of those)
4) Undo bolts holding t/b to 90 degree elbow.
5) CAREFULLY remove t/b (if you're careful enough you don't need to replace the gasket).

Putting everything back in is straight forward enough, all you need to remember is to adjust the kickdown cable if it's an auto, and reset the ecu when it's all back together. Hope that helps.

Getting it to open to 100% involves sitting there with either a really light hand on an angle grinder (and I mean REALLY light), or take to it with a file.

Operate the butterfly valve by hand a few times and you'll see what stops it opening past a certain point, it's a little post that's part of the t/b body (yes, that makes sense). Open it as far as you can and have a look at where the butterfly valve is at. Looking perfectly end on, you shouldn't be able to see any of the valve outside the width of the 'axle' it turns on. If you can then start shaving that post back a bit. I have seen some t/bs that only opened to about 85%. I got lucky with mine, it's opening to 100% from the factory :)

100mm??? DAMN! You'd want to be doing some serious work to the rest of the intake system otherwise the elbow which joins the t/b to the manifold will be a bigger restriction than the t/b. I know you're going to be doing a lot of upgrades but keep in mind that there are other restrictions than the size of the t/b

Just out of interest, where are you getting the 100mm t/b from?

What made you decide to go with a single turbo instead of going for the better balanced (albeit harder to setup) twin?

lmao after alot of debating I realised I wanted it to spool up at lower revs (its still gonna be a dog to drive up to 50kph) and nick said that from his experience if I have a smaller turbo for down low and a larger for up top, I will have a alot of midrange boost and and lose power when the bigger turbo has to compensate for when the smaller turbo runs out etc pretty much I'll get better times with one turbo and it will also be more practical for circuit (which suprised me) however he has 30 years experience so I wont argue lol. Pretty much he told me how it will drive with twins and a single and I decided to go single.

Sounds good in theory, and I guess that when you're on a circuit you're probably not going to have to worry about it spooling up because you'll never let it spool down. Once you're off the line, it's going to be boosting all the way...makes sense, just kinda hard to think about a VN being a 'track' car to that extent.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

yeah, getting a custom intercooler (there we go again....custom lol)and its gonna be black...to try keep the sleeper look and custom airbox for the pod filter coming off the turbo as for track... well its gonna be an all round weapon... and a nasty punch in the guts for the drag boys laughing at the VN pulling up at the staging lights... hehehe (evil laugh)

I know to go from a stock V6 t/b to a V8 one, is just a straight swap over. The larger you get the more you need to look at other parts of the induction system. You've gotta make sure that the air intake pipe is going to bolt up to it, and that the t/b isn't going to be larger than the 90 degree elbow that feeds into the manifold (otherwise the size of the t/b is wasted).
