Ok well went crusing today an hour away and nearly got stuck there... the Temp went right up to red... had to pull over... something was smoking.. think it was something leaking on the exhaust tho..
We took the radiator cap off and poured cool water into it and it just sprayed up again with rusty water... we kept going so now it is running on water again... hopefully no more rust in there...
Still warming up a lot though and had a VN grille on there which didn't let much air in so now have the Letterbox Grille on again... but unpainted...

Is there any other reason for heating up so fast?? cos when I first got it it took ages to heat up and now it is heating up to much...

I don't know, but that could have been the worst mistake putting in cold water when the car is overheating.

Did you have the car running whilst pouring in the water?

Or turn it off, add the water and then turn it back on?

Oh and, the VN grills let plenty of air in. My VN never overheats with the grill on, and I don't take it easy on it either.

if the car is overheating you will need to take it to a mechanics garage and have the radiator flushed out because it's probably very blocked up with rusty crappy water same with the overflow tank. If this is all brown and dirty they can clean out all the hoses etc.

I'm not sure how much this will cost but it will be cheap i just recently had this problem with my vn running hot al the time and now its fine
hope this helps mate!!

I'll show you the Rick James cell. It's superfreaky!.
