heya guys, i have a vn executive s1 sedan and am after a bit of advice on what i could do in the small mod department. i have cold air and 2 inch exhaust and was thinking of a re map but ive also heard that the v8 throttle bodies bolt pretty much straight on. i dont know if this is a bad idea as it has to be p plate friendly whats the way to go for a standard manual? any advice would be great, thanks

| the v8 throttle body bolts straigt on as its pretty much identical to the v6 one, if your doing that i also recommend mitsubishi magna v6 injectors, extractors and a remap of the ecu which you mentioned... the biggest gain however is the ecu remap. i would do the ecu, injectors and extractors first as the throttle body does not give much of a agin without the other mods..... |

Whats been done so far?
Give it a really good service and adjust everything (literally everything) correctly. From there you could go down the CAI / exhaust route, do what nodg said or go the otherway and change the diff gears.
And the V8 throttle body shouldn't be detected by on roady. |

As in like a custom chip? The only experience I've had with a custom chip is through Chip Torque and it was somewhere between $600-$1000.
How much horsepower are you shooting for? How much of the work would you be able to do yourself? |

| a tune on a stock vn v6 will yield around 5-10 kilowatts with a sports exhaust and high flow filter. ive nought a powerchip and chiptorque chip for my old v6's and the powerchip was both cheaper and gave better results |

thanks MILD50. not after loads of power (only cos i probably couldnt afford it ) i just want to give it a bit more get up and go. the only thing done is the cold air and a bigger pipe from the manifiold and some h/duty lowered springs...so pretty much nothing lol. as for the work i could do myself, i could do all the small stuff but when it comes to more complex stuff like changing cams i would probably hand it over to a pro. im thinking the really good service and adjusting everything correctly sounds a good idea to begin with. it would make any other later mods that bit better right? how much was was the powerchip nodg? |
