Hey guys,
Ive heard a cam and chip package can give me up to 20% gain? Has anyone done this and how has it affected the performance of your VN. I was priced around the $700 mark up here in North Qld.

i installed a resistor switch to the air temperature sensor. flick the switch and start the car then the timing increases dramaticly (runs better if ECU is reset after flicking switch). good for wheelies (not so good for crusing). then all you have to do to put it back to normal is restart the car with the switch off.

Actually those resistors end up screwing up your engine. The reason is that they work by fooling the ecu into thinking that the air coming in is colder than it really is, which in turn causes the ecu to squirt more fuel into each cylinder. This makes the engine run rich, VERY rich. Needless to say this is not great for the engine, or the exhaust.

The increase in the fuel injected into the cylinders will give a slight increase in power, but will also lead to a noticable jump in fuel usage, it will kill your catalytic converter fairly quickly too (they don't like raw fuel at all), the extra heat generated will put more strain on your cooling system, and will also speed up the rate at which you burn through your exhaust headers.

All in all, they do provide a small increase in power, but the end result is a car that is not running the way it should. Get rid of it as soon as you can.

If you want a bit more throttle response, make sure that the t/b can open to 100% (most don't), get a good air filter, and a CAI. At least that's actually good for your car.
