It's a hydraulic piston used to engage the bands in an auto. Not sure whats tricky about this one. Putting auto's back together without any training is tricky. Have you got a problem with your box? |

servo is good for firmer shifts but would install a shift kit at the same time for optimum performance. not worth it for auto's that have weakend, shaves its life in half! |

i put a corvette servo in my box to stop slipping and i tell you what for the 30 odd bucks i paid for it and the hour or so putting it in, it is definantly worth every cent. easily one of the best mods ive done t my car and def saved me buying a new box, all it needs now is a shift kit |

Did you have any clearance issues to fit it (provided you did it without removing the trans!)? I'm thinking about doing a similar thing but have heard some horror stories... |

i didnt even have to remove the pan, just get the front of the car on some ramps and get under and have a look, shouldnt take much more then an hour and worth every cent! |

the servo is located behind a cover on the side of the box, youll need to take the valve body and pan off to drain the fluid to install the shift kit and servo. sorry if that was confusing. |

I know you have to drop the pan to install a shift kit, but thought changing the servo had nothing to do with the pan? |

shift kit and servo, increases strain on your trans. if theres a weak point somewhere then it will wear very quickly |

Pull off the cover on the side of the box to reveal the servo, then take out the o ring and it all pulls out, reinstalling is is same as dismantlement but be very carefull to put everything back where it came from other wise you'll blow up your box |

I thought better bands etc actually increase the life of your box due to limiting the slipping?
Obviously, whether its stock or not, if you flog them they break. |

Yes all mods are reversable providing you keep all of the old parts. |
What's the difference between understeer and oversteer? Understeer is when the driver is scared. Oversteer is when the passenger is scared. |

a shift kit isnt actually a bolt on like people think, all you get in the box is basically a number of springs and collets which are used to modify and increase preasure to certain veins in the valvebody |

i put one in last week ...does seem to shift a little harder...took about 2 hours, the only really hard part about it is being under the car..would be **** easy if you had a hoist, i only had ramps... came with good instructions from ebay $30 plus 10 for postage |

you need to work under the car to get it out, there are a couple of c clips that need to come off..it comes out in about three pieces (one at a time) the gear box needs to be moved to one side a little..and fluid will leak on you hands while your working..( i'm talking about just the servo) |

i didnt really notice any differents since my car been pretty slow since i had my boot install i guess its the weight. But one thing for sure the old tranny fluid was black azzz. i changed the filter and gasket and that orange o-ring. so guess if im eva gonna decide to put a corvette or a shift kit itll be my next service which will be a long way way. By the way how often should a transmission be serviced ? |
