v6 s1 - conrod #5 smashed holes (caves) in both sides of block.
awesome - happened in stop/start peak hour traffic.
replaced with reco vn v6 s1 of course - pretty sweet - no leaks - good engine.
went ok for 50 km but idle a little fast (1000+).
next 50 km - check engine light on for two seconds - happened twice.
after next 10 km - suddenly stalled and wouldn't start for 5mins one day (today = yay).
faulty fuel pump (fuel pump always noisy and ready to go) - dead units (filter/pump) definitely needed replacing and were.
reco. motor still now still goes ok 1 hour ago (lots quieter without noisy fuel pump but stalls (always) when idling - and needs a little accelerator pedal to start.
any suggestions appreciated ?
stupid question, but is it as easy as pull fuses and reset ecu ?

Check the IAC. I would reset ECU and give it its 10 seconds at 3000rpm on start up to reset everything. I disconnect the battery, leave it a couple of minutes and then reconnect to reset the ecu.
Does work. Provided the problems lies in the sensor systems.
It might be worth looking at the base idle screw aswell... But its not something to dick around with ideally. Funny story- mine used to stall at idle, I'd wind up the base idle screw and it would go away but over the course of a week or so the idle speed would gradually work its way down. I tried everything, checked everything and still the idle speed would slow over time. Long story short, the base idle screw wasn't as secure as it should have been and would work itself out over time. A lot of head scratching, a bit of Loctite, a careful adjustment and no more idle speed problems. |
