Posted - 28 Dec 2011 : 1:23:27 PM I have had conflicting info that there's a "manual" and "automatic" version of the engine block on an S1 V6. I'm very aware that there's differences between the crank, the bell housing, and the memcal, but I want to know whether an S1 block can be used on a manual transmission by bolting on the appropriate parts. I've still yet to find anyone that does performance rebuilds on the Buick V6 in WA, but am working on it |

Posted - 07 Jan 2012 : 8:35:30 PM The V6 will be attached to the engine mounts, I'll bring in the T5, and tell him "This is what's going in. I want you to recondition this gearbox, and make it fit that engine." There's a local bloke whom is very switched on when it comes to this kind of thing, and for what he does, he charges bugger all |

Posted - 04 Jan 2012 : 11:21:32 PM I found while looking at http://www.rodshop.com.au/trans_conversions/2wd_trans.htm this company seems to be quoting that there is a difference between VN T5 and VP-VS T5 they say there is a 200mm input shaft on the VP/VS models of the T5.
Has anybody put a T5 from a VP/VS onto their VN??? Did you have any problems??
Mechknight73 you might have to look into this as well. |

Posted - 29 Dec 2011 : 1:07:03 PM Thanks. When the performance rebuild comes, I'll be buying a T5, have it reconditioned, and tell him exactly what's going on. Same goes for the engine rebuild. Going to the trouble of sourcing the manual crank on my own, the flywheel, the spigot bearing. The memcal will likely be a custom written one to accomodate a lumpier cam and ported heads |

Posted - 29 Dec 2011 : 01:31:44 AM As long as you have a turbo pattern bell housing for the T5, the correct crank to accomodate the flywheel and the spigot bearing for the end of the crank you should be fine buddy. Engine will run with either manual or auto memcal. I think the torque curves are just slightly different. |
