Ok will try that I've found a brown wire heading back into the cabin that's hot (live) I'm thinking this is wrong as I tryed a vn headlight ass and the high beam was on with all lights turned off so it's telling me something is buggered somewhere even with the headlight switch taken out I've got power in the wire thanks for the advise mate it's a head fry

Can we start back a the beginning!!
Have you swapped relays around?? Leave H/Beam alone its working, try swapping the Horn relay. With L/beam
But first toot your horn to prove that the relay works, if noise then swap.
after you swap toot your horn again does it work.and more importantly do the light work.
The relay should be no hotter than the EFI or fuel pump relay as they are on all the time the car is running.
Also has you car been in front end crash??
If no success break out the multimeter and well start measuring voltages on the relay socket.

Don't know what I've done but high beam is workin fine now but still no low beam checked fuse got power on both sides without fuse fitted and the relay gets hot I'm starting to think its a back feed or a bad earth

You may have to check the circuit right through. Break out the test light and probe where it's working and isn't and trace the wires back as far as you can. Look for the stupid and obvious, such as loose or corroded connectors, then work your way out from there. Even check the bulbs to be 100% sure.

Got rhs high beam only and Parker's nothing else just got me buggerd

There is one metal relay in the lineup marked "LP CHECK." Do not fit this to any other socket. It will fit the other sockets, but putting a normal relay in its place means your blower fan, rear demister and engine fan won't work at all. Had this bug about a year ago, and it took an auto sparky to find it.

Are the parkers and working headlight dull??
kingbucktoo Posted - 31 Jan 2012 : 12:56:48 AM
look at the relays in the engine bay, I had this once, you can get high beam but no low beam. Swap your horn relay with the headlight relay to prove that the relay works, if your horn works its not the relay. Just read the model numbers on the relay before you swap, from memory I believe there should be about 4 with the same model numbers, horn , headlights, A/C and EFI. ( I'm sure this would be the same for a V6)
