hey does anyone know how to remove the cassette player from a 1990 vn commodore? .... i just got a new jvc head unit but i cant figure out how to remove the cassette player so i cant install it. plz help.

| there should be a security screw at the very back (behind) the head unit , as far as I know (dont quote me here) |

I think they mean how to get to it?
In which case pull the panel surrounding the gearstick out or pull it back enough to get to the three screws holding the stereo and heater controls surround on
As far as I know there is no bolt behind the head unit, I didnt have one when i changed mine anyway |
Just be thankful you got two legs to stand on and hands to grab sh*t with! |

I replaced the head unit in my VN and now the speedo has stoped working, could I have cut a wire that would of made the spedo stop working. Any help would be great,

Yeah sounds like it the speedo cable(Voltage driven wire) from my th700 auto comes from the tunnel near the passenger seat and goes through that way. I think it was a brown wire off the top of my head.

| Ah i only just did mine the other day, it's pretty easy, as long as your firmillar with pulling parts of the vn dash apart. You've gotta take off your glovebox and fuse panel (makes it easier to get to screws and so forth) You need to pop the part that goes around your gear selector, then remove the three screws at the bottom of the surounding that goes along the player and heater controls, undo the three screws on either side of the middle part of your dash where the glove box and fuse pannel sits, remove the surrounding for the heater controls player ect, then remove the bigger middle part of the dash, you will now be able to see the player and the cradle. You may need to take off the black tube things that are for your airconditioning (make sure you dont forget to put them back in or you will have to pull it apart again like i have to lol) undo the screws for the player, there are ones that are facing the wrong way the best way to get to these is with a 8mm ratchet spanner from the back, its pretty much straight forward from that point. may i also suggest that if your taking the stock player out use stereo wiring harness to hook up the new one, that way if you ever want to sell your car with the stock unit you still have the plug, plus its a matter of clicking the looms together, takes about 1 minute and you dont have to go thru the bullcrap of trying to match wires. you will need a vn commodore one and a jvc unit one, they are about 20 bucks from super cheap, autobarn ect |
